Some advice on lifting the engine.

I'm ready to actually lift the engine out of my old zed. However, since I've never lifted an engine before, I thought it best to get some advice as I don't want to break or drop it..lol

I'm going to hire an engine crane to do the job.. Do I need a levelling bar? or will the hook and chains be fine?

How are the chains attached to the engine, do they go all round like a sling or are they bolted to the block?

I've also got a clarke engine stand but it doesn't show how to actually bolt the engine on! How do I attach the engine to the stand?

Cheers for any help, as always.

Dave

Hook and chains worked for me. as long as the chains are around a suitable part of the engine where theres no risk of slipping, it should be fine. As a second measure, once the chains are around and the engine is starting to lift, give the chains a good old tug to make sure nothing is going to give before you start lifting high in the air.
