Hi Guys, I have found a small rectangular electronic box under the steering wheel behind the panel above your knees.

I have unplugged it and there is no apparent difference with anything and I'm just wondering what it is and its purpose?

It seems to be OEM. My car is a Jspec auto TT (93), I thought it might be traffic related?

Any ideas?

Cheers!....

I can't post up a picture ATM, but the box is probably the size of a cig packet and lives under the panel above your knees below the steering shroud.

Still got it disconnected and still no obvious effects....

Anyone else?

Is the box fitted by a bracket to the actual knee pad? have seen quite a few of these some fitted down some not and its usually the control box for an ariel type rod that fits at the front near side of the bumper, its used as a marker for the corner of the bumper to aid parking.May of been removed now but often you can see the outline of the device in the bumper where it has been filled in.

Yes, that's probably it then. I had my front marker removed at the time of respray.

Cheers.

I'll remove it completely now.

I had a small box in a similar position which I removed. Never did find out what it was but it was unconnected so removed it without any apparent ill effect. Here's a pic of mine...

Jus t Googled TK consultants, it looks like its a relay timmer so an alarm can be set with a turbo timer fitted.
