Hi folks, need a bit of advise if you could. I just got a new runaround motor and have a couple of questions. Firstly it needs some oil, its a skoda fabia 1.4 petrol, ive got some 10w/40 oil hanging around would that do?? Also it has a scuff that i would like to tidy up but i cant find the paint code, ive looked in the engine bay but cant find the plate with the code on, any ideas??

Thanks

good old funkysi, always around for a quick bit of advise. Thanks for that, only problem is i did 400 miles in it sunday and forgot to check the oil before i left:eek:

you should find the paint code on a sticker on the boot floor. i think it should be 2 letters, 1 number and 1 more letter. i.e LY9P. the same sticker should be on the inside front page of the service book. hope this helps.

ok thanks silvertt, i got the service book here. Would 6y22 sound about right?

i think it's the other way round with the letters. it may actually say paint/laq in small writing. what colour is it (roughly) and what year?

its a dark green x-reg skoda fabia buddy

you bringing it along on sunday mate!;)
