Hi all, only really noticed today but if i hold the revs at any position lets say 3000rpm the revs will drop about 200rpm and back up then down etc it will do this at any position? Doesnt seem to be a misfire but could this be a fuel pressure problem? if there is a leak under the plenum which im going to remove soon could this cause that problem??

Regards Andy

Does it only do this while stationary or when moving ?.

Also do you have an induction cone fitted?, if so which one.

cant really get this to happen when moving if so not noticable, i have an apexi cone filter fitted, why would that change anything?

If it was happening while you were driving and you had an induction kit then I would assume it's air flucuating over your MAF, but as you mention it's not noticeable when you are driving so it rules the maf out.

just taken a video to show you the problem

i increased the revs half way through but can clearly see the fault.

hi all its me again with the same problem lol, noticed now that when i touch the accelerator when the vehicle is cold the revs drop before picking up and almost stall but when the vehicle has idled for about 10mins and warm the vehicle is fine?

Could the temp sensor give this fault? just had a thought, what about if the coolant is low havent checked that since i had some work done! lol might go and check it now.

Regards Andy

could be a number of thngs to be honest mate, one thing may be worth checking out is the base idle, search the faq for a solution

just checked the vehicle and shes just taken 3 1/2 litres of water!!!!!!!! looks like someone has a leak!!!!!! wander how long ive been running like this. coolant guage never over heated? but as its warm now cant test to see if this has solved the problem. ill check for rust spots or an obvious leaks on saturday. really hope its solved my problem and i got it in time!!

Andy

you wont get rust spots if its a head gasket though, 3.5 litres of water is a lot of water NOT to have in an engine when running

hope its ok though

i know, was thinking of removing the engine anyways for a rebuild next month because of this problem, kinda convinced myself it was internal fault, it my still be tho. just p*ssed me off how many garages its been to for this fault. this is if this fixes it and whats causing the leak of course.

have you had it drained before, one thing to check when losing water is the top hose that connects to the rad, loosen the jubilee clip on the rad and check the plastic hose connector on the rad isnt corroded, ive had two on my uk car and they both went the same way, the plastic crumbles when nipped up and the water squirts out onto the rad and evaporates

does ya heater in the car get hot, the temp wont go up as it aint overheating the water as there is none in there and the temp sender isnt getting hot

nice one stella ill check saturday with that pipe, yeah heaters get warm, but engine has always seemed to run hot im just wandering if this has been going on for ages, really angry now but got myself to blame aswell for an over see and general maintenance. but you rely on other people sometimes.

Thanks Stella again
