hi all i was gonna buy 2 apexi induction kits for my Z32TT, but i'v seen a few pics with a t peice & 1 induction kit, would one induction kit really be better then 2 new panel filters, or should i stick to buying a pair.

I'm no car expert & will probably get laughed at for saying this but anyway...

Logically speaking I can't see that it would make much of a difference. The car is designed with 2 airflows which already converge into one feed. If Nissan think 1 big airbox can handle the flow, I don't see why one less restrictive apexi intake wouldn't be sufficient.... unless you have a crazy set up.

You'll be fine with just one cone filter as there is no benefit to having twin filters until your modifications reach 550bhp+. At that stage you're advised to set up each bank of cylinders with its own airfilter & air flow meter - this in turn will require a custom engine management system.

The T-piece is standard (you will see it when you remove your old air box) and fitting one induction cone is normal procedure and a lot less restrictive than the stock airbox.

All you need to do is purchase the one induction kit and its a straight fit onto the existing stock T-piece.

Fitting 2 is completely unnecessary except for very high powered setups and require extra parts to get them both to fit.

As already mentioned above. Unless you are above 550 bhp you don't need a twin pop.

A single Apexi cone filter will give you all you need at this stage.

Dual pops are nothing but trouble and I'm speaking from experience.

thanks all, right now time to be laughed at, how do i get to the airbox, is there a easy way, as it looks like you need the hands of a child to do anything under the bonnet, oh & my 6yr lad has already refused to get stuck in.

It's not a simple job if you've got coal shovels for hands but it isn't impossible. The stock airbox is held in place by 6 bolts. If you are ditching the air box in favour of a cone filter then you may as well use a hacksaw to get the box out ... makes getting to the bolts that much easier ;)

It's under the headlight pannel between the headlights for starters.;)

graheme goode worked on ya engine, he is a fantastic engine builder from what ive read, ex rally driver aint he, thought he just did fords, the cosworth if i remember right

as for the air filter, as said, just hack ot f the way the things you dont need anymore

pity you werent closer, i would have done it for ya

well i took my panel off to get to the air box, to reveal a induction kit lol, one less thing to purchase, but i did notice that under the induction kit there is a plastic sheet that goes from the long vent behind the number plate & is attached just above the air con rad, leaving the induction kit with not alot of air, whats it for as i plan to cut it off then move the number plate. any suggestions where to relocate the number plate. thanks Dom

Dont remove it. Thats the Splash shield to protect the air filter. Lots of people make the mistake of removing it then suffer a lot of problems as soon as it rains and have to fabricate a new one.

As for number plates, Ive always fitted 3/4 size plates from fancyplates.com on the front of all my Z's. They are smaller to improve airflow but not small enough to have attracted any attention from the police.
