Good oportunity to really learn the handling of your car and it really is a lot of fun. Its not a race so you dont have to try prove yourself or go too mad.

Open pit lane means I can come on and off track however many times i wish, gives me time to fiddle with suspension etc.

iirc they just boiled the fluid?

easy fix, just drain and fill with dot 4 or 5.1 which has a higher boiling point, im sure your fluid was really old which would cause it to fail easily.

yep i boiled the fluid but it was brand new fluid

ah, erm which type was it?

Hi Jimmy, good to see you again today, If I'm free that evening I'll pop down and see you. Before you get there try and put all the adjustable parts of your suspension in there middle settings, that way it gives you a reference point when you start to adjust them. Try and find out what tyre pressure other track day people use, and take a good tool kit so you can change things easily.

Paul

Get some racing fliud with higher boiling point. My standard brakes have always been ok so far, except Dave making the smoke like hell.....Mind you it will be alot harder on them running them for a few hours

Sounds like a plan matey :D its only 2 and a half hours so i might not have time to adjust the front roll bar settings, so il leave it on the middle setting for now.

im also thinking about raising the suspension at the front a touch.

i did buy some uprated discs (320mm with fitting brackets) but put them on and they where warped beyond belief.

:(

back to the drawing board then :(

krsmayo has them fitted, he had a bracket made up and he is using skyline 324mm discs.

there is a thread on here somwhere he put up on his fitment and progress, have a search. I think he has the dimensions for the brackets too.

im looking to have to spend as little as possible on doing things like brackets etc as i just want some good brakes that arent silly expensive and will work well on the road and on trackdays.

sorry for the thread hijack jimmy

p.s im not sure of evo disc fitment.

you coming? :D:D

lol will do matey, yeh the police were pulling peeps right outside castle combe on the way home.

I did this at Brands a few years ago in my first 300 ! I can tell you without a doubt it is the BEST way to really discover what these cars are all about !!

I booked the driver instruction too and honestly thought the guy was going to kill us ! In my car he was braking SOOOO late and yet the car did what he asked of it !! IIRC I managed about 100-110 before braking for the first corner.....and that corner is like falling off a cliff !! And then the compression that follows through the dip is amazing..........

Only bad bit of the day was when I broke the bolt on the bottom of the gearstick as I snatched fourth through the dip.......had to cruise back to the pits in thrid with a flapping gearstick......but they have a workshops there and the guy had a bolt that he gave me and use of all the tools I needed ! Top bloke !!

I remember sitting in the pits on several occassions after a few quick laps listening to my car ticking loudly and watching the heat rise of it.......BUT the best time I ever had in it !!!
