does severe weather conditions cause problems for tt's ?

its howling wind and driving rain up here just now. got the lorry back in the yard went to go home and the damn car wouldnt start. its been fcing head on into the worst of the weather all day coming in from the sea.

defo sounds like a firing problem as i have full electrics and a starter but it just wont catch. been abandoned at work til tomorow. if anyone has any ideas and advice would be appreciated :D

If you have a vented nose panel, then i suppose rain could enter the maf that would cause probs, but should still start. There`s a lot of connections! Once you do get it going provided it`s due to water/damp, i`ve found spraying ignition sealer on battery/elec connectors very helpful. hope you get it sorted

There are a few probs relating to weather that have affected my zed,

I have a Blitz SUS filer, and standard nose panel

When i had no engine undertray, it used to suck more moisture and cause running issues, this became very apparent if i went over a puddle.

 

If you have an aftermarket filter, do you still have the original plastic guard, that wraps around it, ie under the nose panel

Both of these items were not on my zed, but are now and have never had more probs.

 

Check the connection to the maf is good and dry, if you can take the maf off, give the sensor a clean with some electric contact cleaner like Ambersol, it will clean the tiny metal wire, i was very careful and used a cotton bud to gently touch the wire. DO NOT over do it, as if you break the wire it makes it usesless.

If you've got a cone type filter on then the rain may well have been driving into it and soaked it through clogging it up.

Used to happen a lot on mine and I found out the hard way that a pair of Apexi filters take a good few hours in the oven to dry!

 

Take the filter off the MAF and put a sock over the end to stop any crap getting in.

You'll probably find it starts first time.

Dry out the filter and refit.

no. id noticed the idle becoming a bit stuttery but the baffles recently shot out the exhaust so i just thought it was that. and no i didnt save my sausage roll. ended up with a stinkin turkey sandwich instead. on the brightside im car shopping now lol

sausage rolls are full of fat consider it a blessing :D my old white z used to backfire in the rain if you floored it there was an apexi cone on that one
