Hi. Was just wondering what possible causes there could be for the hicas light coming on in the zed? Found a set im ratehr intrested in but have been informed the hicas light is on. The valuation of the zed is quite highish imo so i dont want to be touching it if the hicas light = big spending straight away.

I understad it can mean something is worn etc.

Any you guys had this problem or that can help?

There are several reasons that do not indicate an actual fault :

 

Powersteering fluid low

Aftermarket steering wheel fitted with non-hicas Boss

Hicas Disconnected

Steering wheel not on straight (will cause light to come on after a short period of driving)

So its nothing major then?

If the tracking is out the steering wheel sensor wont line up, = Hicas light comes on.

An excuse to buy another steering wheel and get it aligned!

Also a wrongly fitted or incorrect type of speedo converter if it's an import ;)

If the power steering has been run low due to leaking for a long time it can damage the pump I have been told.
