Hi all i have a square red button on the left side of the casing around the steering wheel, when i press it a fan come's on, does that mean i always have to activate my fan, the temp never creeps up even in heavy traffic, not pressed it once yet, well only to test what it was, is it a normal thing. thanks Dom

Very handy! iIts not standard someone must have wired a switch to the relay. I would leave it be you never know when it might come in handy

When you say "a fan comes on" are you meaning the fan in front of your radiator? if not then where is the fan that comes on?

:D

I thought it would be the ac fan.

think its the main fan, my mate was looking as i pressed it, as he would'nt sit inside and press it incase it was an ejecter seat lol

Main Fan???

Hmm that's attached to the engine via a viscous coupling! I'm assuming it'll be the one in front (bumper side) of the rad assembly, which is, as radron said above, the AC fan.

Looks like the sensor has packed up and someone's shorted it to a switch instead. Not a particularly good idea as you don't have any indication of the AC temp so wouldn't know when to switch it on...... my advise is to do a proper job with it and repair whatever is actually wrong in the first place (poss temp sensor)

Maybe it's had the viscous fan removed and an electric one fitted to the radiator?

I assumed it was in addition to a working sensor... If its been wired in because the sensor is not doing its job then that needs sorting.

LOL just reading this and moved into a new house the other day. Mate found a big red button in the bedroom so had to press it. Yep panic button sets the burgler alarm off which is fookin loud! We didnt know the code to turn it off and it was 11pm on a sunday eve too! Doh!

I did a similar thing about 10 years ago, my ex was running the pub she worked at for the day, I was helping bottle up at the end of the day and found a red button under the bar, had to press it and the alarm went off for ages.

Just reminds me of Peter Griffin in the plane with the big red lever on the door saying do not pull!
