i have a noise comeing from the top right hand side of the enigine around where the cams are and the idler pully it sounds like a sort of grinding noise car drove fine and could not notice any loss have since took the time covers off and coulde not see anything obvious am now looking at doing a cambellt and idler pully change just to elimanate and best to be safe than sorry was wondering if any body had also had a similar noise

next part is i hace seen this a NISSAN 300ZX Z32 TURBO & N/A Lightweight Crank Pulley and was wondering it is worth me changing to this whille i will have mine off also are they any good or is it going to be more trouble than its worth it does also seem a little cheap its on ebay it is from 2FAST2COOL2

Tyre size recommendations

Might be stating the obvious (to some) but something I didn't realise until I started trying to pick tyres for aftermarket wheels is that the profile figure - e.g. 40 - is 40% of the width.
So for a 255/40/17 tyre - diameter is 255mm, profile / side wall is 102mm (40% of 255), and radius is 17inches.
Learning this made it all make a lot more sense to me. I also have this graphic to refer to. Can't recall where I found it but it's now saved on my desktop!

I also wanted a chunky looking tyre with a solid side wall and after going 245(F) / 265 (R) , have since switched back to 235(F) / 255 (R) as I found the handling was noticeable more boggy and I use the car for fast road and track use. For ref, these tyres are on 18" BBS LMs.

Tyre size recommendations

245 on an 8J will look like a balloon on a 8j….. an 8J is only 204mm wide

The tyres you currently have a 2% smaller in diameter and circumference that the OEM wheel/tyre combo

Personally would be looking at a 225/45r17. Plenty of very nice tyre options and only 0.4% different diameter from OEM size

Suggestions for Potential Valved Exhaust

Personally I wouldn't bother mate!
Valved systems are fine where they are an OEM fit on new cars, but why waste cash trying to replicate that on an older car which sounds pretty decent from the box.
Go and speak to Infinity (the guys next to Jim) and get them to custom build a "normal" system for you. I did and I am very pleased with the result.
My old Mongoose was too intrusive at cruising speeds, so Infinity fabricated one with extra resonators at the front, which made cruising quieter from inside the car. They then used smaller silencers at the rear, so the best of the noise is out back. If I want to have a little fun and enjoy the rumble, I just open the windows.
No fancy switches to mess around with, it looks good, sounds good (without the added knob-headed attention seeking function) and only cost £600 all in.
