Hi all,

My PC is driving me mad at the minute.......

I have Norton Internet protection which, whilst it does the job, it is not scanning properly. It's scheduled to run a full scan once a week but, even though the box comes up and looks like it's scanning, it goes on for hours and the number of files scanned remains a big fat zero! I just have to use task manager to shut the program down in the end:mad:

Also it won't run the live update properly - I've done it 5 times this weekend and each time it says it's downloaded the same updates when I don't think it has done anything.

Finally I have tried to run a disc defrag. Again this doesn't work. Each time I get the message that my PC would be better if I did a defrag, I get the option to run it now, yet when I click on run it now it thinks about it for 20 seconds and does nothing.

It's only 1 year old and it's getting harder to resist the urge to put my fist through the screen!!!

Thanks in advance.....

Richard:headvswal

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Dont know if its the same, but my mate was having similiar problems.

He un-installed Norton, it then let him de-frag, disk clean up etc and then he re-installed Norton and all was fine ?

I installed this free scan programme on mine, and never had any problems with it.

i would give ad-aware a go as it will find things that a normal virus scan doesnt. sorts out lots of annoying problems such as the one you have. just put ad aware into google and you should be able to find the free download.
