Thought i had to post on this....

A while ago i noticed my Alternator belt was squeeling slightly when really cold or when the car had not been used in a while, as i found out since they all have to come off anyway upon change i decied to buy all three. I want these changed early may as i'm now using the Z more often so thought i'd ring my 2 local Nissan dealers today to enquire on current price etc

Sealand rd Chester (new dealership)

Huntington Chester (established)

Firstly i rang the new dealership as it is the closest, now to be fair they have'nt been a Nissan dealership for long but after giving the car details i instantly hit the import wall,:headvswal

"We may have to get authorisation to work on this one from a tech manager, who's not there today."

After getting over this and explaining i only want a price for labour based on if you can do it, i then was told we can do it but i would have to wait until late May as there still waiting for the software tech discs for imports:x:

phoned the other dealer to get>

(price within minute's and when would you like to book in?)

was shocked at the difference in price though!

Sealand rd Chester £270.00 exc vat

Huntington Chester £130.00 inc vat

Hhhhhmmmm decisions ,decisions

To be honest, you can do this job yourself in less than half an hour - especially if you have a pair of ramps, it's really easy. You can also buy the belts off ebay for about £20-£25 for the set.

p.s. Don't use Hartwells - they are fricking useless. I speak from experience...

Thanks for that Gareth , i have found Hartwells to be as you say not allot..... better , but compared to Sealand rd

i sourced the belts through D.T.A (Thanks dan :))

and yes i have thought of changing them with a friend who's a bit more hand's on he also has ramps so that may yet be an option

thought I’d ring them first as constantly hear there ad's on the radio and they are the closest

but they really didn’t have a clue got asked what car it is more than 3 times , then hit the import barrier ,once i got told the price though i just said that’s obviously not right ! , thanks though, end of lol,:wack:

may have it sorted now as in will be doing it with some help just waiting on reply's etc:D

(EDIT)

They really have no idea

plus i've had a very kind offer from (FASTREDZ) to help me change the belts:bow:

plus i was'nt keen on leaving it with the new dealers in sealand rd' as they had to confirm the model 3 times ! (think they where getting confused with the Z31)

So feel much better about the whole thing now:hyper: and will be sorting out early May

Chris :)
