Just got a speeding ticket through, doing 39 in a 30, there wasn't any white lines on the road on my side as it was pointing at us with white lines on the other side of the road. Is there anyway out of it???

Technically you could contest it, saying that there is no way to accurately measure your distance travelled, but at the end of the day you could very easily loose and end up paying even more!

Was it a roadside camera, van or something else that got you and do they have the photograph? white lines are not necessarily needed to catch someone speeding. If you genuinely were not speeding then I would make a fuss, if you were and they have proof, give up I am afraid.

contest it the white lines are required to accurately mark a speed give over two pictures

and distance travelled between the white lines and time taken to do it ....no lines no proof ....they cant guess at your speed that is illegal and imoral ......ask how the speed was calculated given there was no calibrated white lines to base their NIP on

good luck mate

What sort of camera was it ?

Some have been replaced and use the pressure sensors and are front facing,

Others are still rear facing....

This is no longer true I am afraid, plus who is to say it was not a mobile camera van that caught him? we need more details to be able to advise really, but I still stand by my first response, no and be more careful !!!

Sounds like a Truvelo they are usually forward facing and have a round lens on the front where as gatso's are rectangle and tend to be rear facing, they have sensors in the road rather than lines like a gatso.

I got done for 42 in a 30, tried to get out of it as was in works van going to a breakdown, no joy. Spoke to another copper at a bus in the middle lane of motorway I had broken down a few weeks later and he told me firemen, ambulance drivers get done so I have no chance. Ended up paying and that was it.

Cheers John

Give em shit even if you are guilty lol. Request proof and pics and everything! Fvck em! Make things as drawn out and difficult as possible for them. :D

I'm sorry to say I agree with that - be more careful in future. Hopefully you may get lucky and get sent on a speed awareness course instead of receiving points.

Currently the white "speed marker" lines are only legally required on dual carriageways or where there are 2 adjacent lanes travelling in the same direction. This is to differentiate you from a car in the next lane thus determine which one of you triggered the camera. On a single carriageway the marker lines are not required as there is no doubt which car tripped the flash;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Fraid not - over 38 and you dont get that option :(

i agree. woooooooo. give um shit. lets all rebel. but sumhow i dont think this will work. but i like the idea

You say that buts its worked the last 2 times my dad has done it.

You dont try - you dont get! ;)

And if it dont work who gives a fvck, you aint any worse off, at least you are comforted at the knowledge that you have messed the rozzers about :duffer:

Peace out

i like it. any excuse to mess them about is good in my books

Feckin right! The system will fvck you at some point so give as good as you get IMHO!

I think you'll find that to contest it you have to go to court.

No more fixed penalty - you'll get at least double the fine plus costs of about £60 including that new "victims of crime" compulsory payment that they add on so you pay for other people's crimes that they couldn't get from the person who actually commited the offence.

Then you'll get 3 to 6 penalty points depending on how they feel instead of the fixed 3 points.

They WILL have a photo so you're pretty much stuffed!

Would be nice to be a rebel though! :D

Can you post the pic up? I'm confused how a camera meant to monitor traffic flowing in the opposite direction can get you?

They sent my dad the pic of him in the car - he STILL gave em shit and what not - they threatened court action and everything - nothing ever came of it! over 2 years later still no more action!

Its ok going thru the rules with a fine toothcomb and if you don't have the balls or cannot risk further action then bite the bullet and pay up. If however you have a problem with 5-0 and authority in general - give as good as you get :D

think you're correct dude truvelos don't have lines and face forward

Sounds like you've been lucky there but whenever I've tried to contest things with good reason i've ended up paying out twice as much!
