Now this was a surprise:shock: poor owner thought he had a loose cat shield or similar, this fell out of the n/s cat when we undone it to check out the turbo.

It is the exhaust turbine from the turbo!!! the shaft had sheared.

Holy Crap!! iv seen one that had been shot out the back of the exhaust but not 1 stuck in it! Thats insane!!Poor guy!

and i thought mine was special saturday jeff loosing boost through the sump:shock: no thats gotta be a bummer...!

how the hell did that break off like that.... lol

 

Goodness knows, seen a couple of turbo`s in the past which have sheared the shaft, can only speculate........ balance, vibration, metal fatigue or all of them.
