How fast are these......

one stayed with me (on the track of course) all the way up 2 110 mph before I had to slow - only put 2 car lengths in between us. Mines modded with 14.5psi boost - I thought Id stomp all over it :(

they are fast but you should have easily beaten him. was probably supercharged which gives them around 300bhp

The 2.0lr F series is the highest bhp per litre production engine in the world :-)

Some fast little Honda motors are the S2000's! What sort of power are you producing at 14.5psi?

He should have stayed with you mate, they're very quick cars.

Dont think so pete not in std form anyway. My mate had a red one and i easly pulled away from him everytime when i was std he said he had no chance.

Then he got a super charger put on  so then i modded mine :)

Its just a CTR with a different ECU 245hp

Got to consider the weight difference aswell.

i raced one before and i pulled away from it then it seemed to sit with me for a while, but never catching. I put that down to he fact i had not reduced any weight in my car atall, still had the spare etc etc and had a heavy amp also in the boot.

their average 0-60 seems to be 6.0 secs, so even a stock Z should despatch one with ease. i tend to view them as a meatier version of an MX5.

not difficult really, vvt + 9,000 rpm + a flywheel the size of a 2 pence piece in a car the size of a micro machine = easy 300zx annihilation

except its not easy 300zx annihilation as they are slower. (stock)

except they are slower standard.

'slower'? not very descriptive in what sense? confused? my mrs has a vvti mx5 that wipes the floor with my pitiful NA (wish id never found that car for her)...

were talking about performance against a TT. You said they easily wipe the floor with one. That is incorrect, I have never raced one but according to their road test figures they are slower in acceleration, mid range and top speed than a 300zx TT.

I understand its popular to modify them though.

look we all hate/love honda!! lets just agree, with there cheating torque'less engines, bin lid flywheels, open ended vvti that revs al the way to motor bike land they achieve silly wbhp - there crap if you try to drift them however as there's very little power low down to get you started subsequently when you see one trying they tend to go in much faster and there's a hell of alot of e-braking goin on and for that reason i cant own one...

my NA will one day be good but i for-see a day when i will just end up in a strawberry like all the other BDC fanatics! lol!

s2000 is a great concept but its just that, don't get me wrong id still love to have a go in one and id be called a gay hair dresser forever and a day but they shift like no other 2.0 na (bar the usual) once you learn how to drive it..... there isnt an s2000 on every street corner not like mx's or TF's for that very reason - ppl just had no idea how to drive them on the test drives at honda, wouldnt go above 6k rpm as to not scare the customer lol!

Hey guys I had an S2000 for 3 and a half years. Thats the longest period I have owned a car in my life! My TVR lasted 7 months (got bored of fixing it) the 911 lasted 1 year (got bored of it). The S is one of the best sports cars I have ever owned. It is fast, amazingly balanced and can be driven very very hard.

It is quite capable of binning many cars. In my 911 my friend kept up with me in his S all the way to (140 plus kmh of course) in Le Mans. It looses out in straight line speed 155 is about the top of its range. In the right hands an S would trounce anything on a track all day long but so would anything really.

In a straight line against a modified Zed I think there would not be alot in it. a 450 fly zed would do about 4.5 0-60 which is more like 5.5 with a normal person driving it, the S will do high fives / low sixes all day long.

It certainly felt alolt more stable at high speed also compared to the zed but it has a very modern space frame chassis and lightweight components and excellent suspension.

I would certainly not describe them as a hair dressers car, they may be two seter drop tops but they are serious race cars that are robustly built and handle like ballet dancers. On a track day I was in a team of S's versus, caterhams, westies, TVR's and porkers, the S's won hands down only loosing out on straight line acceleration against the TVR' s but considering they are mass produced and are virtually unbreakable with service bills of 250 - 300 quid every 10K thats is pretty impressive. TBH if I did not have the need for the back seats for the little one I would still have one.

No offence taken bud! Porsche Cockster now that is a handbag!

I agree with the handleing being good but i wouldnt say they are fast. just the same as an Rs/cupra R and fiat coop etc

Had a few good runs with a few and they were pritty easy to kill over 60, they just might feel quicker due to the noise of the thing

they do sound like there going like the clappers when there only doing like 40 lol!

I've never really thought about them like that. surprising to know about power to weight ratio.. cant beleive that its the most powerful road car in production though....??

cant be the most 'powerful' road car in production, what about the bugatti? i mean its not the fastest to 60 but its probably the most wbhp a production 2 seater car has managed? Xbow does 0-60 in 2 seconds if you can change gear fast enough (powered by a honda v-tec engine) i think or is that the other one?

Most amount of horses per litre for a mass produced car. Need to have a pop at one in my zed and see what the difference is :-)
