I have one, but I think it's broken too. Make a funny noise the panel dont light5 up unless its the illumination bit

RS do 2 versions...wattage's ...go for the higher wattage/power, they are about £25.00 plus vat and delivery. Have you tested the output voltage from the inverter, it could be the E/L strip that is faulty.Oh if you remove the panel connector and apply 230v ( domestic) carefully if all is ok the panel will light up ( the panel can withstand 230v no problem for short period).DO NOT pull on the wires that go to the panel as they are soldered to very flimsy tags on the E/L strip and will come off.

hope this helps

let me know if you find one that works mate iv had 2 and neither done the job maybe its my panel though, should have one still in the packet if i can find it i could send you it if you want see if you can get it to work on yours think its my panel thats away on mine

I have one on mine, but i'm wondering about the legality of it..... can anyone tell of any tales of being in trouble with plod through having an EL panel?

But for your problem I would try;

-checking fuses drivers side fuse box

-check for loose connections

-check the wiring for voltage using volt meter

but if you want a new inverter get this one from RS . item no. 267-8863. I know this one works, because I use it on mine. Hope this helps!

Had it on for ages and no probs what so ever. As far as i'm concerned plod can fvck off - its a factory fitted OEM item and its staying :D :dance:

Good Answer Mate :D

Worth noting at this point that the inverter frequency is important too. You need an 12v to 100VAC 400Hz inverter for EL panels to work properly. If you walk into maplins and ask for a 12v to 110V/220v inverter they're going to think you mean a domestic one which will have an output frequency of 60Hz/50Hz.

depends on colour , red more than likely wont cause an issue , its the others the police dont like ie:

blue and green:( (but most seem to be this)
