Anyone done this?

Dont want to keep phoning Jeff as I know hes busy, and I need this doing asap now.

Got the oil and a tube of HPLS transmission treatment.

Is the diff different? Im presuming the diff is in the rear axle but the oil I have is mixed (75w/90) so can I use it for the diff too or is it somehow all linked up?

Im hoping the gearbox oil change will quieten down my noisy drive.

Any techniques to fill/ drain gearbox?

Cheers

its fairly straight forward. there is a drain plug on the under side of the gear box and a fill plug on the drivers side of the box. you will need a square 13mm plug key. just drain and replace plug then fill from the side until it starts to trickle out. job done.

the diff has the same plugs, one on the side the other under neath. you will need diff oil which is different to gear box oil.

speak to oil man at opei oils for the right stuff.

Undo drain plug bottom of box with half inch breaker bar .The oil will come out quite fast so be ready to catch it all and make sure the container will take it all.Leave to drain clean plug of any metal fillings replace plug now undo side fill plug same type i think .To refill i used a pump type syrynge from machine mart to pump in new oil think its 3.4 litres .Stop filling when the oil overflows from the fill hole.;)

just to add...

you will need a length of pipe aprox 2 to 3 ft long and feed the oil in under pressure from the side of the car, either that or get yourself an oil syringe and pump it in

;)

Redline mt90 cured my syncro problem but now my box is noisey as hell under load ive read a few people have had this problem maybe redline oil is too thin .

Any tips for undoing the filler plug? I cant fit my breaker bar in there and spanner wont give me enough leverage. I need the right tool

One tip, undo the filler plugs first, at least you know that you can refill the gearbox and diff once drained.:whistling:.

Try putting a jack under the spanner to push it up. You can always get away with using the wrong tool if you apply enough force...
