DAM DAM bugger, Lump in road just ripped out my oil sump plug :(

Could have been worse as it just skimmed the sump, the thread on the sump plug adapter is stuck in there which means the sump thread will be fine :) juts ordered a new sump adapter and sensor again grrrrrrrrr.

Will post up pics soon. really close one... Im going to post up some pics of the damage and the massive lump in the road which has obviously taken out quite a few cars, you can see the grounding marks.

The council will be hearing from me very soon.

omg was well shocked when i read the title , just as ur on top of evrything 2 bud always the way:rofl:

at least not much damage and as said could of been worse!

Sorry to hear that, if the lump in the road has already been reported then the council will have to pay for the repair, not sure how you check on it though.

when i had a old 325 that was lowered those pyramid style humps where the vain of my life !!

noticed when on ramps the scrape marks they'd left behind (and that was going over them carefully at a crawl):nono:

With a car as low as yours jimmy maybe you need to think about a sump guard.

Paul

Just what I was thinking, a nice stainless steel jobbie would'nt be straigthforward to fabricate.

Great news for me :D got under the car and tapped a star shape tool inside the thread and it came straight out, ive put in a new plug and its tightened up perfectly, Was due an oil change anyhow lol :D ive also bought a new temp sensor and adapter and will fit them once its all arrived.

It must have just clipped the lump and luckily i was slightly more right or it would have gone straight through the sump no problem.

Here are some pics. Do you think i should claim for something?

adapter and sensor smashed up.

you can see the thread stuck inside the hole.

very hard to see the lump, this pic was taken horizontaly on the floor and you can see how much height the lump has. It slopes up very sharply and has a nice peak.

Hi matt, lots of traffic on that road next to the junction so everytime the lights went red i jumped in the road and snapped as much as i could, A porsche was just about to drive over the lump ans i shouted STOP and he moved alittle to the left.

Cool good work, so what was involved? should i send a letter to the council? threaten to sue?

its not really suing, take loads of pics (like you have) then print off a map of where it was and reference the photos, and a letter along the lines of how where and at what time sercumstances and so on then to speed things up get a quote from a garage in your case inc fitment parts and overall cost inc vat then a headed letter explaining that you NEED to be comphensated otherwise a solicitor will have to take over - ring in a week to confirm they have received it then in a month they should get back with an offer but i cant stress how much you need to make those pics contain your number plate otherwise they will try n scare you by asking to sent an assessor wich no one likes!!! its all about evidence as much as possible - there was actually a number to ring about vehicle damage caused by council property at stockport lol!!

STOCKPORT!

Spent many nights in stockport, thursday night shite.

Ive heard horror stories of people being sued by the council for damage to council property after things like this.

correct you have to be very carful they dont flip this on you! iv heard of one case where they were made to pay for the damage to the road because the car was insured as standard and it wasnt it was lowered so they informed his insurer and forced him to pay for the damage!! lol! but i presume your fully declaired!! as they will undoubtably check your insurance if its along your lines

pete you need to come trafford on fridays (not thursdays) its the jap drag night, keno goes down in his Z too, pm for more details

Why not just re-locate the sensor to stop it happening again?

I believe there's a 1/8 blank on the filter housing you can use.
