A friend of mine who happens to be a car dealer invited me to drive his latest bit of kit for sale.

 

And I must say, I loved every second of it - it's a Merc SLK 55 AMG and it's awesome!!

 

Lovely V8 power and noise - superb acceleration and road holding and absolutely amazing brakes; yet so civilized. I think I could happily have one as a daily driver :dance:

 

Now how can I convince Julia that I really need one...........

Mercs have had a very bad rep for build quality and reliablity for the past 10-12 years or so. They've spent quite a lot of time near the bottom of the JD power surveys. They are supposed to be trying to improve it.

 

 

Yup, we had a rough time for a while - last meeting I went to I think we were back up to 3rd for overall satisfaction now :nana2:

 

Has been a hard slog over the last few years in a Merc dealer, but quality has improved hugley over the last few years - the newer cars are stunning.

 

Just come back from a meeting in Majorca for the new E Class & E Class coupe (no more CLK's) - very nice to drive IMO.

 

Rust? er, maybe a few isolated incidents on vehicles made in the mid to late 90's :wack::nelson:

oh, & Richard - keeping on track with your first post: try to get out in a SL65 Bi-Turbo :dance::dance::dance:
