Ok just fitted my new bov's (turbo xs replicas) and they dont sound any louder than the old filthy xs power ones i had? although the car does feel more responsive? They are fitted behind the bumper in front of the rad, will they be louder and more clear if fitted in the engine bay?

They are the ones off fleabay that you are someone else mentioned a while back and recommended, tis strange im running 14psi so its got enough turbocharged air goin through them:D

i know, they are the same ones i have fitted, its very odd tho because like i said above they dont sound the same as mine, they blow off loud but really fast.

The ones on my car make a loud and prolonged sound. its very odd

What psi you running then pete? and where have you located yours?

  • Author

They kinda sound like a short deep dump.......... if that makes sense lol?

me and murt both thought i had the recircs still in place originally until i had a look.

original location, i run 13.5psi but it always spikes to 14spi when it hits boost, but they normally sound loud from as low as 4psi.

The only thing i had dont when i fitted mine that i didn't do with cheshire's is that i opened them both up to inspect the spring inside before installing.

And i didn't use any of the washers either

mine sound the exact same as these

Does sound good, i take it the stock location is behind the bumper?

and where and why would you need to use the washers?

if you have an erratic idle after installing the valves you are supposed to install the washers under the spring inside the valves, they didn't effect my idle at all so i didn't use any.

ahh i see.....have you got stock intake pipes?

  • Author
going to sound stupid but are you sure they are in the right way?

I assume so pete, just removed the old ones and fiited the new in the same place... large open end in the intake pipe, tighten up jubilee clip and vacuum pipe on nipple on opposite end?

nope wrong way mate, dump valve goes into the pipe coming from the side of the radiator, bung goes into pipe from the intake

your not the first person to do it mate, the pipe at the side of the radiator comes from the intercooler, the other pipe comes from the intake pipe, you can loosen this pipe and move it out of the way.

The intake pipe on the driver side gets in the way when installing the valves so its best to move it a little.

and remember to point them forward and down to avoid getting water into them
