Bulb Questions

Can someone please tell me what kind of bulbs come in the 300zx;

i.e. Headlights

Side Lights

Fog Lights

High Beam

are the headlights/ main beam h4's? and what are the others?.. please let me know, as i'm thinking about an HID kit for my main beams and was wondering if for example.. the main beams are h4's, do I get a kid which has h4 hid bulbs?.. i'm assuming thats how it works.. any advice would be useful

cheers!

main beam are H3C bulbs (jap spec) H3 (uks spec). you can get a hid kit for them just ask Danny at DTA our trader he can get hold of them for you also led side lights to match the look of the hids,

The hi beams are standerd H1 bulbs and the side lights are 501 bulbs

Not sure on the fogs as i dont have them

High Beam (Full) = H1

Dipped Beam = H3 (H3c JSpec, convertible to H3's with the addition of an earth wire)

Side Lights = 501

Front Fogs = H3 (But with a 'Bullet' connector instead of a UK 'spade', so just cut off the bullet and crimp a female spade on the loom side and use UK bulbs)

I want to change my main beams which are currently h3c's.. do i need an h3c hid kit?.. or will an h3 hid kit work and just be the same fitment?... also can you get all colour temp bulbs for each fitment/size?... and finally.. are they legal?

For HID's you just need a H3 kit. Legallity is a tricky issue, form what I can n gather technically they may not be legal, but nobody has ever had any issue with them.

The law/rules are there on fitting aftermarket HID's becuase when fitting HID's to normal Halogen style headlights the beam pattern is scattered as they need to be fitted to ellipsoid style lights. However the 300zx has ellipsoid spots as standard and does therefore not suffer with the scattering problem, which is why nobody has had any legal issues with them.

In regard to colour temps, the higher you go the more blue/purple they become and the less actual visiblity you get ! Ideally you want somewhere in the region of 4600 - 6000k. Any higher is pointless.
