The 200+ club organiser Chris Mann has advised me that an event is arranged for

Thursday 23rd May at Elvington airfield nr York. There will be timed 1/4s and top speed runs on the 2 mile main runway. I am already on the list to go and so far there will be a few 4-500bhp cars coming along, (tuned 300zx, cossy, skyline), plus some fast bikes. Cost is £70 paid on the gate for the full day and this includes some lunch/drinks etc. and is now being made open to anybody. Passenger rides and spectating are all f.o.c. If anyone is interested in attending just email Chris @

chris_mann86@hotmail.com so that he can advise the organisers of numebrs.

Only a few cars turned up. £70 for all day on a 2mile runway. Timing setup at 1/4 mile and 1.5 miles. My best 1/4mile run was 13.12secs @ 111mph, so I was very pleased considering there was a very strong head wind (20/30mph). My best top speed run topped out at 156.3mph at 1.5miles against the wind. Sunny with scattered showers, so 120mph aqua planing was fun too. Can recommmend Elvington Airfield for straight runs but the surface is very abrasive so trackdays there would scrub a set of tyres quickly.

Nice time dude. Shows you how crap Santa plop is regarding times.

What were the other times of the day?

From memory the SupraTT did a 12.7s and 162mph but he started a little way behind the line.

R34 did a 12.9 and 158mph.

R33 did a 13.4 and 152mph.

A standard Audi RS4 did 13.05s and 157mph.

WAS it still pulling at 156, did you still have more speed to go? was it a case you ran out of road?

To be honest by around a mile it had given up accelerating, from 140/145 it crept slowly upwards and showed 161 on the speedo and the speed trap gave 156.3mph. The head wind was 20/30mph 'ish front on and was also gusting quite heavily from the n/s/f so I guess that held the car back after the 1/4mile stretch as the track gets very open from then on and the track was quite poor in parts so some more drag there. Without the headwind and more road, maybe another 1/2 or a full mile more, it could have wound up higher. My only concern is that I thought the JWT ECU removed the upper speed limit that Nissan put on the 300 at 155mph, but now I am not so sure. Any one know? I thought it would have gone past 160mph true on a flat runway, so a little dissappointed. Now I am searching for more speed/power again. more money needed, umm sponsorship....

hee hee, my record of 171mph remains intact then. To be honest that was on a Motorway in the middle of the night with 3 miles of clear lanes.

167 true speed giving the gear ratio and the rpm I was pulling.

What was ur speed MAC man? can't bothered to do a search

Speedo on mine was showing 161mph but was trapped at 156.3mph. Guess work on speedos is not valid, top speed claims are like 1/4miles and bhp, they should have to be verifiable. We need a clear 3 mile track with a gps or speed trap setup.
