Peeps there is a bunch of us going down on this day, Couple of Zeds and some very powerfull Supras. I'm trying to convince a mate who has got a new shape 911 Carrera 4 to come down as well. So hopefully it should be an interesting day. Hopefully Wazza will have his Mines 300 back on the road for it. Defo gotta get some Video footage of day.

So who is up for it????

I'm up for it. I would love to see other 300zxtt's on the strip. I went last Sunday and although it rained in the morning when the sun finally came out at luch time they dried it off ok. Meant I got my first ever runs in. Was a lot slower than I expected so I'm looking forward to chatting to people who have done it before and don't sit there stripping tread and smoking the tyres on the green light.

Yeah I've done it in my z31 turbo, April will be the first time I've taken my z32TT up the strip.

What times did u get?? 1/4 mile and terminal speed over the line

Apparently the FTO club are going to be there on that day as well, and they normally get 50 or 60 cars going. Not really a problem on the strip as they tend to run 15s 1/4s or above, just means it might be busy.

Hope to see you all there.

ps - I ran a 12.9 1/4 mile last time out...

12.9 thats going some!

Come boys and girls lets get some more zeds down for this event. Who has the fastest 1/4 mile time on this forum??

My best time/mph was really crap, 14.633s and 99.19mph so really pissed off, so much money spent and a crap time. I am hoping that it was down to being a newbie at drag starts and the rain on the day, rather than a crap car!

The secret to a good 1/4 mile time is ur launch, this is reflected in your 60ft times, anything close to 2 seconds or under is good. IF ur getting loads of wheelspin off the line you could be losing up to a second in ur 1/4 mile time. Tyre pressures could help, lowering ur tyre pressure at the rears will help grip off the line.

My launch is where Im losing time, I get a 2.25 60ft.....

My performance mods are only a decat, exhaust and larger intercooler and nothing else so you can see why they say the mkiv Supras are so easy to tune.

After I did the 12.9 run I had Racelogic TC fitted but I wont ever find a chance to see if that helps the 60ft as I just sold my car....

thats a shame u never tried out the TC, it would have been interesting what difference it would have made.

So what car will u take up there Branners?

The best 60ft I could manage was 2.611. I had two suggestions made to me. First one was reducing the rear tyre pressures like you said, but down to what psi? The second was was to try starting the autobox in 2nd gear and changing up manually to drive when it reaches 6500rpm. Has anyone else run an auto up Santa Pod and if so, what times/mph did you get?

14.6 ,Thats a pretty good time in an auto, try reducing tyre pressures to 16 psi, wouldn't know about the auto tip though as I've got a manual.

Just heard a guy from our Network team is bringing his drag bike along, sub 9 sec 1/4 mile beasty!

Im replacing my Supra with.....a 300zx. No not really, its another Supra but a UK spec manual this time.

My old car was an auto btw. I tend to drop the PSI in the tyres to about 20 and then power brake the car, left foot hard on the brake, right foot on the accelerator bringing it up to about 1,800 revs and then when the lights start to change release the brake and floor the accelerator.

I was hoping with RLTC on board that I could launch at 2000rpm and let the RLTC do all the work for me.

My new Supra will be tuned up eventually, but Im basically starting again so its going to need decat, exhaust, intercooler, bov etc before I get it back up to speed again.

I tried the left foot braking and hold the revs at 1500rpm on my second run. I hear that it looked really impressive but i took the knock on the window from the marshal and the please get going to mean sitting there smoking my tyres was not working for a good 60ft time. I want more goes to try to improve the start technique cos when im moving all hell break loss and then its good fun.

Looks like only 2 Zed boys are up for this, come on guys, I'm sure a few more zeds should make it, what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon and rip up the Santa pod tarmac!

Get some practice in for the Redline Drag racing competition in May.

Toddington services (between j11 and j12 of the M1) at 9.00am with a departure at 9.15am then that gives us enough time to get there and sign on.

I am definately going on Sunday so if anyone else is going, come over and have a chat. Last time I turned up mid-march I saw two 300's come through the gate but never saw them in the queue to run.
