Ok, my UK twin turbo has been running a custom stainless decat with four 2.5" tailpipes and two small sport backboxes for about 18 months now.

The car sounds great, and has just begun to start popping when I lift off the accelerator.

I am now thinking of having the two silencers removed.

Obviously I know it will make the car louder, but, will it also make the car sound much different; both on tickover and on full boost?

Also does anybody have any ideas whether it will pop and bang with no silencers installed?

Cheers, Dan

Your fuel map is the problem. Causing fueling on overrun. This will make the pop sound, can be easily removed with a custom map.

If it's only just started happening, you could try resetting the ECU to relearn, this may stop the popping, it could also be that the timing has slipped out a degree causing the problem.

As for removing the silencers it's totally your call. I had silencers in mine but it was still very loud and at 2800 rpm it was a very basey drone. I personally would leave the silencers in.
