i flogged four PS3 games two weeks ago - three of them arrived safely at their different buyers - this fourth guy reckons he's not received it and wants his money back. normally id consider my customers and issue a refund, but this was street fighter 4 and was worth over £30. he's only got 22 feedback and i reckon (also judging by his 'wikid' email address) that he's trying it on, especially as amazon are selling it for £28.

 

he didnt contact me at all, but lodged a dispute against me 2 weeks later. i responded politely and asked him to check with anyone that might have collected it from the door (the address is a company not a residence) and he said he's checked with them and at the post office (funnily enough this was the morning after i contacted him at night, so a) how the hell would he contact the post office at night, and b) if he'd already contacted the post office, why not contact me first and ask if id sent it before going to the trouble????)

 

unfortunately i didnt get proof of postage or delivery as everyone else i deal with are no problem at all. do you think i should just spunk up the £30, or let him take it further. i have 640 100% feedback so at least i should be seen as a good ebay member.

like my tennants, they try it on whenever they can, call his bluff and tell him to fook off, or like with my tennants, grab their knackers and squeeze till they magically find the rent in their pocket lol

tell him you work for the inland revenue and you always use there postal service at work as your a personal manager and the service is allways spot on..then tell him you've given his name and address to your manager and he's going to look into it and see what went wrong with the post:D..i bet you get an email sayng its just arrived;)

he sounds a bit suspect let it run on and and play his bluff if he keeps pushing it you might have to take the hit as you have no proof of delivery

Yep I would tell hime to very politely check again as you are a trustworthy dealer and they are trying it on!

Sounds like he is pulling a fast one, he knows there is no signiture required when he recived it, so thinks he can get his money off you and get it free because you cant proove he recived it.

Take it the full way as doesn't affect your feedback as the complaints i've had work through pay pal.

 

Unfortunately if you've not got proof of posting, iirc the rules say that you have to prove that before he has to prove anything.

 

I sold some games a while back and had the same problem. i ended coughing up!

how did you pay for the transaction at the post office? did you not have any kind of receipt or did you post it in a post box?

paid in readies. posted at the counter, but the receipt doesnt have any postcodes on, its just a cash receipt - sometimes they write the postcode on each receipt but even that wouldn't prove anything.

if you have a reciept, go back to the courier and ask if he has a log of some sort,

tell him get lost! with 640 transactions if thats your first problem you have done well but it comes to us all.

I've done a fair bit of baying and stick to second recorded or standard parcels, you get a postcode then. Costs a bit more but have claimed a few back as damaged lost etc so in the long run is worth it. Try using the receipt you have in the dispute they may accept it or he may back off

thats the trouble with some people they just want to fleece you! thing is if you cant prove you posteed it then its not ebay so much. but paypal like to give refunds and then tell you they have done it afterwards and expect you to lump it!

 

i had this with a polish bloke and paypal just gave him a refund then told me i owed them the money. so i said f**kyou and never bothered using the account anymore. now i uswe paypal with a different e-mail address but only buy and not sell.

There is only one way paypal will deal with it. Do you have proof of postage (no) So your money is as good as his im affraid :(

 

You should always send everything 1st class recorded. As you are insured with royal mail upto £36 and its enough proof for paypal so the money will not be refunded to him.

Well, I stood my ground and politely said I reckoned someone else has taken it 'by mistake' at the premesis and if he wasn't happy then to open a claim, which he has done. Paypal have sent a link to a rediculous claim page where the only three options for me are: I can prove I sent it, I can prove I refunded, or I haven't sent it. No fourth option of: I can't prove I sent it, which is obviously useless to my defence anyway.

So it looks like Ive been shagged out of a £30 playstation game and I hope he enjoys playing with his freebie toy. :mac1:

 

unfortunately, as usual, the minority has spoiled it for the majority, as now in the future I'm going to charge extra for 'signed for' service.
