Found this posted on the net is it right [i just thought every one should know that you get a 4:11 ratio r230 in a z32.its only in the nismo edition z32.mine was a 1999 model i think those were the only nismo zeds.]

Interesting. Cant say I've ever heard of that before or seen it in any of the Nissan 99spec brochures. I've also never heard of Nissan ever releasing a "Nismo" version of the 300zx in 99 or any other year.

I cant find anything about nismo edtion z32 i think this guy is talking rubbish. I done a bit of research on diffs and it seems a r200 on a na sub frame will fit as we now .But it seems you can keep the thicker tt drive shafts and tt hubs if you use q45[certain years] output shafts as the q45 uses the same thicker tt drive shafts as the z32tt.

its usually a na subrame and diff change complete with drive shafts which is swapped to a TT its saves a lot of weight .....if you want to keep the bullet proof diff drive shafts go for a set of leader gears even shorter than a NA ratio .....finding someone to fit it might be a problem though !!

the half shafts are the same thickness, its the splines that slot into the diff and on the other ends in to the hubs that are different sizes

:)

What's involved with installing leader gear diff ring into a diff?

Where does the skill or complication come into the job?

I've been thinking about installing one for awhile but i begrudge paying someone to fit it when i could do it myself!

they need setting up properly... lash angle etc - from what i've been told, if you don't know, don;t attempt!!

Exactly!

May involve grinding a new shim to the correct thickness.

Lol, i wouldn't chance my luck, i'd want to understand what needs to be measured or the tolerances required, how to do install it, but its a cog at the end of the day, not a particularly complicated bit of machinery and i'd prefer to take my time and learn something.

Anyone suggest a website or book i could look at?

I would honestly say that if you have to ask, you won't be able to do.. and I'm not being a t*at - I'm all for DIY, and have a degree in mechanical engineering, but wouldn't even bother trying - if you haven't got the tools to measure, machine, re-measure, fit and be 100% confident that the result will la more than a few hundred miles then it's one of those occasions where the professionals really are worth their cost!

Bugger!

I'll have to make friends with a gearbox specialist then!

I've got a couple of ideas, will you know if i find anything.
