I've got a Meta M99T alarm and immobiliser fitted my car and the other day I realised that the siren for it doesn't actually work  When the alarm would usually sound, the hazards just flash. Can anyone recommend where the siren is likely to be fitted? I've had a quick look under the bonnet but I've really no idea where to start.

Cheers

perhaps the siren has been stolen ............ mines in the engine bay left side top same as my last zed not much room elsewhere to put a siren in these cars

Had a look in both suggested places and can't find anything :headvswal May have to try and find a Meta Systems dealer and get them to have a look and see if they can find the siren. If anyone has knowledge of this alarm system - where is the siren likely to be fed from? I've found a 'Remote Controlled Car Alarm Central Box' if this is useful. I'm thinking I may be able to follow the wiring and find the siren.

Cheers.

could it be wired to the horn not really familiar with alarms but did one in my mini 20 years ago and was linked to the horn

I thought this as well but the horn works so that would indicate either a faulty control box or a break in the wiring somewhere. Thats why I'm assuming there is a siren fitted but it's faulty. I can't find any installation instructions on the internet so have no idea which wires I should be following:headvswal

Cheers.

also the guy who fitted my alarm has fitted them actually inside the airbox in GTO's because there is nowhere else may be worth a look

mines bolted onto the top of the off-side arch, in front of the suspension mount, just behind the headlight (bear in mind that mine is an N/A so a little bit more space to play with!!!! - it doesn't look like a siren/horn -just a black box approx 3" x 3" x 3". Not sure that will help as I'd guess each installer works differently, so good luck

Cheers Moby. I've found wires in that area that look they're alarm related. One of them goes to the bonnet switch for the alarm but there's another that doesn't go to anything. Not sure what this is but I don't think it's likely to be for a siren as the connector is female. It's the size and shape of a telephone connector but like I said, a female connector and it is cable tied to the wiring loom. Anyone know what this might be for? Does this sound like it should have the siren on the end of it or does it sound more like what I thought it might be - some sort of diagnostic/test port. I've still had no luck finding any installation guides for this alarm so have no idea about what this wire might be for or even if it is alarm related.

Cheers.

Dont know if this is any help, but my Lazerline 996 has a siren exclusion mode. Apparently some Hospitals and Ferries insist on it so most systems have this function. If its in this mode, only the Indicators flash and no siren sounds.Just a thought ??

Possibilty! Only problem is I can't find any info about the system so have no idea how it's got into this mode or how to get it out of the mode :D lol.

I was just going to suggest this too. I had the same problem with my Falcon Evo4+ recently - the hazards just flashed and my interior LED was constantly lit, even with the engine on.

For me, it was because it had somehow gone into valet mode and I had to press buttons 2 and 3 with the ignition on - no idea with your alarm though, sorry! :wack:

Will see if I've got any info on mine when I get home, mine was fitted a couple of years back by a local company, but they might be able advise over the phone, again I'll check for their number as well.

cheers, Steve

Hiya, well, I've found the limited instruction sheet I got when mine was fitted, will try to attach it to this post - no promises!!! It was fitted by a company called Stirling Ice in Portsmouth, 02392 876616, about 6 years ago. They're still in the phone book so might be worth a ring. Hope this helps, good luck, cheers Steve

Cheers moby! Looks like thats the M999T though which I think is a better version? Seems like the M99T is quite a rare alarm! I'll try sending an email to Meta to see if they'll send me some installation instructions - I know it's unlikely they'll help me for free but it's worth a try I think :D

Aaah, ok, as you say it's got to be worth a call. I've just found another leaflet with 'Metasystems UK' address on it - Oakmoore Court, Kingswood Rd, Hampton Lovett, Droitwich WR9 0QH - 01905 791 700, e-mail: info@metasystem.co.uk. Again, bear in mind that's got to be 6 years old as well - ho hum, nothings ever easy:headvswal
