As some know we got stung by MFI bought ther furniture paid cash BASH! they went under.

Well not so bad this time but.........

I bought a "FREE SAT" system from Maplins for £250 complete motorised dish and HD reciever with bullt in HDMI upscaller. Sounds great and it is. The picture is superb on HD but the thing is when the bloke sold it to me he said that this system was really good gave me the normal sales pitch and told me that I could get over 3000 channels both english and european. Again that bit was true. What he didnt mention is that 95% of the channels are Pay Per View so they aint free at all? I paid a bloke to come set it all up and it took him 2 and a half hours in all so no way was I going to get it right.

PLease does anyonw know if there is a card or anything that can release all these channels for me coz TBH i aint got a clue. The reciever has ports for all different card sizes and formats :)

For those that know what I am talking about the system is :

Fortec Star Innovation

Thanks vini

Have a look on here http://www.techwatch.co.uk/forums/ loads and loads of info about freesat....

I installed one for my brother - you can get a motorised system to switch it between different satellites to pick up extra free channels... I wouldn't worry about adjusting the dish too much, i'd never installed one before and had it up and locked on in no time...

2 and a half hours!!!!!

What the **** was he doing for all of that time??

It's four bolts to the wall, hang dish, run cables and clip to wall, drill hole through wall, run round room and connect to Sat box, then using a very simple electronic box, you adjust the dish to the best position! I understand that some people simply don't know/want to do it and that's fair enough, but for an installer to take 2 1/2 hours is taking the piss!

As for free sat, there are a number of differant forms of it about..... BBC/ITV do FREESAT ( http://www.freesat.co.uk/ ), SKY does it's own version aswel ( http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/ ) and there are a few Euro sats that you can pick up with the correct equipment

Get on Tinternet!

If you read my original post you should have noticed the bit that explained that it is a motorised dish and he has set it to automatically pick up 15 sat's which have been stored and are ready at the push of a button. Which is why it took him a while. That isnt the problem. I have got the hump because I was fooled into thinking that it was FREE SAT with over 2500 channels various nationalities. But only about 5% of them are english free sat. ;) The fact that I have to subscribe was not mentioned in the sales pitch. Just goes to show that these things need to be investigated throughly before taking the plunge.:smash:
