Hello everyone and thank you for the friendly newbie welcome, have spent most of the last three days reading up on my hopefully impending new zed purchase, have narrowed my search, so far the only "must have's" are 1. import not uk (rust issues) 2. twin turbo manual as my daily drive is a mk3 ls400 so a comfortable/relaxing car is allready taken care of, spoke to a nice guy who was very helpfull at zedworld tamworth, just amazed they dont do sales as well, as ever all advice/help greatly apreciated.

I think this is a fair point but many of the JAP imports have been in the country for quite some time now and they, like the UK Zed (and any other car come to that), need to be looked after. Having had both, you will find the JAP is not "usually" undersealed and will rust much, much quicker. Find the best one you can afford and don't be taken in by gleeming bodywork and smart looking interior. Always check underneath (particularly around the rear inside sills) to ensure your purchase is exactly what it seems like. Good UKs are hard to come by, but don't dismiss them - unless you have a tight budget.

Good luck with your hunt. Although it is certainly a buyers market, rarely do good Zeds go for silly money...unless the seller is desperate of course.

All zeds are undersealed the same - Jap and UK

Majority of Imports I see are like new underneath. Majority of UK's I see are ready for the scrapyard or have been repaired before.

But then also seen some really bad Imports (been in country long time) and great UK cars (garaged, never winter driven..etc).

In that case, I will stand corrected. Can only speak from my own experience where my UK is very well undersealed, and my NA Jap import was not. That said, both are now heavily blasted with waxoil by me. Either way, as Paul has said, you need to look carefully at every car and not assume that a JAP Import will be rust free.

just buy a car from a club member and you can assure an honest car.

yea your car is extremely nice stella . best 5 grand you can spend
