Auto Gearbox Strange 'Scraping' Sound

My Z is an Auto and when I pull away in drive for a split second it makes a noise like a similar noise to what a binding brake disc would make.. like a scraping grinding, it isn't a bad noise but annoying all the same, it isn't affecting the car.. yet..

but when it goes into 2nd the noise goes.

I put it into 1st gear to find out for sure it was the 1st gear on the auto box which is making the noise and it deffinately is..

Could someone please give me some advise as to what this noise could be, many thanks!

I've just been out in the car again, If the car is in D, it makes the whirring grinding noise when pulling away i.e. First gear, then it goes when it goes into 2nd e.t.c

If I have the selector in 1 It makes the grinding noise, and then move it into 2 it makes the noise still.. then into D, it goes...

The gearbox has just been re-con'd.. i'm wondering if it could be some sort of bearing?..

finally it seems to make the noise a little louder if i'm in 1st and i'm turning left??.. I don't know if this has anything to do with it.. but it just seemed to.. I know my AIV's need drained...

any ideas guys?

if its just been reconditioned take it back to them, as something is not right, an you will have a warranty, and dont let them fob you off with any excuses either

I'm going to do that yes, but I still want to know why his even happens in the first place, and what is causing the noise.. Originally the gearbox packed in altogether, and I lost all drive.. it would drive for like 5 mins get 200 metres down the road and then wouldn't work at all.. I gave them it back to fix it, they got it working.. now this noise has started??... what's going on?

That sounds terminal. Maybe they just cleaned the filter of bits of debris the first time but the symptoms you mention are exactly those of a terminal transmission. Been through the same. The fluid will be brown and smell a bit burnt instead of red and clear.
