Good little review and I'd agree with some of the final analysis against its competitors - best handling car but the most expensive to maintain.

a good write-up. not sure where he got the 'cheesy image' bit from   surely that belongs to a subaru review!

Strange review, as they are comparing 5 totally different cars that you can get for the same money, so ranking them is kinda pointless..depends on what you want from a car. But not a bad writeup.

Auto taking almost 2 seconds longer to get from 0-60....errrrrrr i think not! :nono: :slap:

Auto is rated at 263 hp

auto has slightly lower peak power but quicker spool up. best thing is an manual box with an auto engine tbh.

Quite a few differences really.

I wonder what real differences are made when an auto is converted to manual.

What stats will change etc....

Thats a bit of a drop. how come??

I thought they were down as i have had a blast againt a few autos and always had a noticable differance plus brian saying it etc

Differences in the camshafts and smaller turbos on the exhaust side to try and make up the slushy nature of the autobox.

Auto Camshafts - 240 degree intake cams & 248 degree exhaust cams

Manual Camshafts - 248 degree intake cams & 248 degree exhaust cams

Auto Turbos - A/R = 0.54

Manual Turbos - A/R = 0.63

They are not that far apart in simple straight line race on paper, but the manual is noticeably quicker and more responsive in the real world.

auto has slightly smaller tubs but when converted to manual in a drag race an auto with manual conversion should have the edge at the same turbo pressure as the power difference will be miniscule but the tubs from the auto that has been converted will spool up quicker. also the standard power output has a larger difference as you loose more power through the autobox than you do the manual. i cant remeber who but someone on here has a manual zed but when he had the engine out he changed to turbos to the ones from an auto so he could get quicker spool up.

i think the thing that makes a manual seem faster is the direct feel from throttle to wheels, instead of: floor the pedal, clunk, whizz, sigh, drop gear, vooom!

these were my thoughts when i had my conversion :)

fw or rw hp?

Flywheel. Compared to 276/280 for the Manual

btw - For the U.S Market they list the Manual as 300 and the Auto as 280.

"by 60,000 miles those twin Garrett T25 turbos will be due for replacement" ?

"the 300zx is a cheap second hand buy due to its cheesy image"

In what way is a 300zx cheesy?
