Is it still The Beast for East, or has someone else taken over?

Any pictures and specifications would be great.

Its nice to see the car is finally up and running again after all the history surrounding it. Are you still running the Greddy 16g turbos and if you dont mind me asking who is now looking after it as this car was out of the maldon workshop the same time as mine the only differences with the engine spec were

Turbos

Injectors

Full after market competition engine management.

Pretty much the same in respect of internals and turbos however the God of Thunder really messed with this car and to all intents and purposes I started from scratch. The engine's been stripped down to fit new seals and oil pump, new loom, split fire coil packs, water injection, AEM EMS, etc etc and generally just improve the quality of workmanship. Dan Turner is looking after the car. He runs Advanced Motorsport Engineering and they are absolutely 100% in respect of quality. Made a lot of changes to suspension too inc Tein Super Street. I'm running it purely as a street car but rather than increase boost from 1.2 bar recently fitted NOS which I'm very very pleased with. Dan's preference is to run the NOS using the AEM and only to cut in at fairly high revs therefore reducing the possibility of damage to the engine. Didn't have the time to run it on the dyno however they guess I'm getting around 600 rwhp with the NOS active. To make it more interesting can't use the traction control with the NOS :scared: I do drive the car quite often and the NOS has been the single most exciting mod that I've done.

you have guts driving that beast in this weather. my car was all over the place when i put my foot down.

It's not so bad actually. I only intend to use the NOS when the weather is fine. Under normal driving conditions with the traction control on at about 8% it's exciting but relatively safe. The limiting grip factor is the front end so as long as I don't go in too fast the back will take care of itself :) Even in the wet it's OK with traction control set at 0% it's a doddle. Racelogic second best mod I've done :)

What is the price for the NOS-system? And what does it cost to fill it up?

About a grand fitted (using existing EMS otherwise would have to buy controller too) and £97 to fill :)

Not so bad.....and how many times can you "push the throttle" before it`s empty?

Get good tyres it should be manageable.. Admittedly in freshly fallen snow its not amazing, though totally predictable when it does go in the dry it hoops the backside of my mates R34 with traction control, down to the fact I have semi-decent tyres on and he has nankangs

you would of thought that someone with a r34 could afford half tidy tyres?? lol

Don't really know. Don't keep the NOS on all the time though I took a mate out today with it on just to give him a taster  The pressure is still pretty high and have used it about 20 odd times. I'll keep you posted. What was interesting is that he didn't notice any lag whatsoever and he's quite right. Using the NOS and foot down it just pulls like a train with zero lag. Excellent!

Is your 586 HP on flywheel or RW ?

How is your NOS set up? Do you have a NOS injector for each cylinder fitted into the plenum or just 1 for each throttle body?

Just curious as ive got Wozzers twin bottle kit with a controller that he used in his NA.

Is it better to use the AEM built in controller or the stand alone controller that i got with the kit.

I also will be using the AEM ems when i finish the engine, Im just worried about using NOS on my engine decisions decisions :(

I am planning on using direct port NOS (wet system). Ie one injector for each cylinder. I think its safer than having two injectors way back near the throttle bodies.

i wasnt originally planning on having any control. just press n go. However John dixon is currently working with me on an Emerald management system for my NA and he has suggested using that to control the NOS.

So long as your engine has been built from the word go to use NOS then I dont see what the problem is. However NOS takes no prisinors so it will quickly destroy any engine not up to scratch.

My system is set up to cut in at 80 mph in third gear and above (will not come on in 1st or 2nd gear in any event). It uses the AEM EMS which has a very good capability for NOS control. NOS can be damaging however if it's used at relatively high revs and with the turbos already spooling any damage potential is reduced significantly. Drag racing for example will certainly want to use it at lower revs but this will be more likely to cause damage. My 0 - 60 mph time is less important to me than my 100 - 160 mph :)

Yep. Im in agreement here.

My plan is to fire the NOS through a WOT switch(wide open throttle) but to have a second "push n hold " switch on the steering wheel. So you only select NOS when you want, ie in third gear and the system only delivers it on a wide open throttle basis.

So..... if you "lift" on the throttle the system shuts down OR if you take your thumb off the steering wheel buttom the system shuts down.

Simples and safe!!! (I hope)

im sure Mr dixon will be able to explain how the Emerald might do a better job than this similar to the AEM .

I might have a nice system for sale then, Not sure if my engine is built for nos

No dont give up.

My (limited) understanding is that you need to avoid having rough edges/spikes etc in the head so no hot spots can develop. So a nicely ported head will be fine.

Maybe someone with more engine building skills/NOS experience can expand on this topic.

How about this one :) 504.25 RWHP @ 6770.4 rpm and on a 'proper' rolling road. Running just 1.2 bar currently.

We are interested to hear if you have increased the pressure from 1.2 ?

If so, your 504 HP should be more then...... :thumbup1:

No have not increased pressure still 1.2 bar. I have added 100 bhp NOS though ...........

Wow....so you have 604 RWHP now?:tank:

I assume you don`t have a stock engine?

Not sure NOS counts tho for the power stats?

Not sure NOS counts tho for the power stats?

Well I didn't bother to put it on the dyno so it's irrelevant but I'm not sure why it wouldn't count?? The best thing about my car is not what it says on the dynograph anyway. It's the fact that it gets used regularly and the adrenaline rush that I get when I floor it beats admiring my dyno chart any day :) I know that there are a few guys on this forum building some amazing motors and I'm looking forward to them being finished so we can admire and compare them in the flesh.

I appreciate the power and driving them to but for a power figure it has to be what's been built not just bolted on. Of course it counts for a total figure but not when comparing against others or everyone would just start usng NOS and stop building great engines.

Absolutely spot on and you are not going to use NOS on the road, unless of course tou wish to lose your no claim bonus or your life.:tt1:
