Is it still The Beast for East, or has someone else taken over?

Any pictures and specifications would be great.

Ah but the Most powerfull and Fastest arn't nesessarily the same steve. :p ;)

Ah but I never said it was:p

And as an aside on this cars longevity

That time was done in 1991 and was N/A to put it perspective of how fast it was in its time it is still running to day and Mark Watkins recorded 9.3,141mph in it with a super charger in 2006

No wonder Mike used to wear brown race suit trousers

Sorry steve I didnt realise until i read it back. I wasnt refering to your post. It wasnt aimed at anyone TBH. Its just a fact. :D

Another quetsion would be who has got the fastest Zed in the UK that is actually on the road at the moment and fully working! Not stuck in a garage being repaired or upgraded!

has anyone got a zed on the road fully working

I think this is the problem, alot of the cars that have the most power in the country are still off the road being worked on or made one dyno run and blew up or had issues. SO if it's the most powerful cars on the road at this moment in time that could be a pretty impossible answer to find :)

Full respect to Mac1 for his work, it's an awesome project but i've only ever seen it on the roads once when we did the north/south convoy meet 3 years ago

Hi Mike, long time..........

I have finally completed my car after 4 years.

The trip to UK and Peter Rosenberg was a big mistake. He failed in everything he tried to and I had to start from scratch again. Expensive engine? You bet, probably £40.000 has been spent, and that is engine only, in spite of not so expensive parts from US. The point is that there are som many parts you need. Cost for work is not that much.

Last year I had 720 BHP and torque 850 Nm (= 650 as you measure it, pounds per square inch??)

The last 12 months I have taken a new and final step rising it to 850 BHP, torque 1000 Nm. Stage 4 heads, larger and ported exhaust in the turbos provided 130 BHP more. The engine now runs perfect. 0-200 km (125 miles) takes only 10 seconds! That is similar to the Coenigsegg performance! Quartemile I don`t know yet. So finally I can use the car now, the joy will overshadow the time and money consumption, at least I hope so. :hyper:

Have you any new project in progress?

No nothing at the moment, big mortage nowadays LOL

Did you get your engine from Kyle in the usa in the end?

All the best

Mike

I think the most important question is, who enjoys their car the most and the answer is we all do, when they're going ;)

Not full engine from Kyle, heads only. Package was missing for 4 weeks, DHL was pretty stressed, the insurance was $7000. Heads are stage 4, ported, larger valves and larger cams. 750 BHP max capasity on each side. The engine works much easier now. So heads are no longer any bottleneck.

Also larger turbos, Turbonetics 530 BHP. Backpressure is eliminated on high PSI (max 30 PSI) by porting. I found a company who have specialized in porting turbos!! This turned out to be very important, airflow and exhaust flow are not optimal in an original turbo. But now it runs like hell, straight up to 8700 RPM. A wonderful feeling I can tell you.

Mortages are also nearly tearing me apart. I hope things can normalize soon, trouble has been going on for nearly 2 years now. UK sees to be in really deep shit ??

Best regards

Me

Nice one Mac. Just needs to post up the dyno sheet so it can be added to the leader board then.

The project has been on hold for the last 12 months

I just need to sort out the gearbox then I can have the alloy fuel tank fitted and then its six throttle bods and she will be all ready to map on race fuel.

Anyone with enough money can make a 300ZX go super fast but for how long? I am a big fan of Mac1's because he hasnt just thrown money at the car willy nilly he has researched and experimented so IMO when its ready it will last and prove its place.

Plus the fact that he is a big bloke........:D:mac1::cool:

A lot of research has gone into it Vin and so far so good and I hope to spend at least another 10k on it this year lol

Thanks Nick;) I do hope to have the project finished this year.

That's good news buddy, i'll look forward to seeing it at the shows this year :D

Mac, did you ever get that dyno sheet ?. Would be interesting to see.

Unfortunately not but at the end of the day its only a stepping stone of the cars full potential,I have no problem with CJs car leading the pack but just wait until mine is completed:cool:

I think it was officially CJ's old motor, although I hear the new owner has had to pretty much take it apart and redo it.

Are you sure David? Alex told me he just had it built again before he sold it:confused:

Just read that article, and have seen it moving at a local track day. I think there's been a challenge made by 'Jap performance', is there anyone who can prove that there motor pushes out more than 604 bhp at the crank, 512 at the wheels? If anyone can, i should imagine the mag would like to hear about it. This Zed is owned by Mark Moseley?????

I could do that hands down I would not even have to go to the trouble to map mine on race fuel I would simply take my car to the RR where CJ had his done as it does give very generous numbers out.

Many years ago I sorted out a RR shootout for the club and a few people complained about the poor BHP numbers their cars were throwing out so another RR day was sorted where Alex had his done and I think it was Cybernets car that gained around 70bhp from changing the RR.

For what its worth my car was mapped on the very RR that was giving out low numbers but still made 586 so when mine is finished and mapped on that very RR then heaven only knows what numbers I will get LOL

Got to remember, THOR is NOT an RR, it's a dyno pack so you can't compare their readings directly, it's comparing apples and oranges.

It's quite possible to loose 50hp through deformation of the tyres vs being connected directly to the hubs.

Pretty much all RR read a bit differently as most companies don't calibrate them often.

I am more that aware of the difference but they still give off generous numbers.

I watched ChrisC's car hit 500bhp on on Thors dyno pack running T28s and 555s

I think it was AdamR that had the same spec and did not make any where near that on the SE RR day but it did have problems and was running very poor.

the guys on the supra forum sake the pi55 of the thor dyno as well, they recon its about half way in between the fly and the wheels as a reading but people get it into their head its at the wheels nut the hubs!! LOL

Supposedly he got 490bhp off standard injectors??? I always thought they maxed out at around 370??

In the dyno section the reason I have put the Rolling roads that were used is so you can compare peoples cars that used the same one.

There is still a grey area in that the same rolling road could have been calibrated between the time each persons car was on it. So if you want to see if you have more power than X the only real way of testing this theory is by both going to the same rolling road at the same time.

The dyno section was originally set up as a way to motivate people and a semi reward for thier efforts by putting them on the leaderboard. It's not the be all and end all that represents the fast 300zx in the UK, it should be used more of a guide line as to what sort of figures you can achieve with certain mods (hense the URL links to the actually member posting his stats.)

I have this on Video somewhere. I remember Adam, herman and someone else (may have been cybernet I can't recall) sitting in the boot of his car because his tyres were made by some elastic band company and he couldn't keep traction past 4k rpm :)

Unaided stock 370cc injectors will hit their 100% cycle duty at 14.5 psi on standard tubs. So if he had standard injectors I would assume he had standard tubs and internals. 490bhp is very optomistic to say the least.
