Hi,

The car is still available for sale,it is in perfect condition in and out,100% HPI clear with a certificate to confim, full service history.

I have worked in UK for the last 1 year and I've purchased the car there. My company wanted me back home, so currently I'm in Milan,Italy and I`ve just received a brand new left drive company car and no longer need this one.

It is still registered in the UK and since I have absolutely no use for it I am looking for a fast sale( this is why the low asking price)

I can ship the car from here directly to your home address, you will pay cash on delivery when the car will arrive (COD) and I am also willing to cover all delivery expenses.

I look forward to your reply

Regards

Sounds exactly the scam (maybe) from same person that a friend had somebody try to pull on them today....been ongoing for a few days,

A mercedes from Italy (found on pistonheads). exactly the same story - Car bought in UK, company transferred him to italy, got LHD company car now, so no longer needs this car....no need to pay anything till car has been shipped to you and you can take a look at it yourself..etc and decide if you want to buy. Its a no lose situation....

All looks good....until this morning gets an email from shipping company asking to do a moneygram transfer to your partner or a friends name then show them receipt, so they can verifiy your authenticity/Identitiy...moneygrams instantly ring alarm bells, but sill not entirely sure how the scam works if it is a scam...but you describing the near exact advert rings alarm bells.

Had one the same on Ebay for a Audi TT but they were in Spain, paid £5 for a car check then asked questions based on that. No surprise but they got former keepers wrong by 3 so a scam!

Stay away from it!!!

yes, it happened to me yesterday (Zoe-Pauls Missus) and with a merc C230-shipping people emailed me this morning asking me to wire money and send receipts etc. Same guy by the sounds of it, in Rome in Italy apparently-His name was Patrik??

Zoe

I had the same with a Porche 911..

He said he to wire the money and he would deliver. I said we had an office in the next town and would be there the next week, if he gave me the address I would give hime the cash and drive it home.

Never heard from him again.

Scam definately my rather naive nephew fell for a similar thing with a Focus in Germany shipped to your to your door for only £800 + £60 shipping. Moneygram even say on their website DO NOT SEND MONEY TO ANYONE YOU DON'T KNOW PERSONALLY, they even gave him a shipping ref number that brings your details up on a fake shipping website.

Thanks I know it's a scam, just wondered how they can possibly wangle money our of people!

Thanks I know it's a scam, just wondered how they can possibly wangle money our of people!

People that are not clued up on these things have no idea, such as my nephew, saw the ad on autotrader a legitimate car site, contacted the guy, sent pictures a nice back story that was plausible, logged on to a very nice shipping site and all the details came up time of pick up delivery address you name it they had it covered, the only thing that blew their scam straight away was that after he'd showed me the email was that the shipping cost was £60 from Germany :nelson:

this is how it works....

you show some interest in the car / boat / bike....can even be a flat to rent

the owner says i'm not sure you can afford it i need to see some proof

so they ask you to go to western union / moneygram and pay £1000 or similar to a friend or member of your family and fax the seller a copy of the reciept as proof you can afford it

now youre thinking if its paid to my friend family how can i lose as only the friend family can cash it....right....?......err wrong

you see the moment you copy your western union recipet and fax it to them they go to a friendly little western union office....the sort you might see in a corner shop which happens to have no cctv etc....and provide some fake id pretending to be your friend / family...they get the cash and walk out

now youre thinking well i'm covered under wester union insurance.....err nope because you invalidated the insurance by sending a copy to someone...its like giving away your PIN...you have no come back....forget phoning the cops...as per the little western union branch they use will have no cctv records and will shrug their shoulders and say well the id was shown we paid out....i wouldnt mind betting some of these outfits have a nice little back hander from the fraudsters too

you been warned folks

cheers

chris

Seriously cheap BMW 7 series. This car would sell at 3 x the price listed.

We e-mailed him and got this back.

Hi mate,

The you for your interest in buying car.The vehicle in excellent condition and runs perfect, It has never been involved in any kind of accident, and it has got no mechanical problems, the road tax is paid until next year also it is HPI clear.Technical inspection and emissions testing is passed and stamped as well.I`m an architect and i worked in UK for the last 1 year and I've purchased the car there. My project is finished now, so currently I'm in Italy. I've bring the car home with me. I decided that is better to sell it because it`s still registered in the UK and it`s a right-hand drive car so it`s hard for me to drive it here where all the cars are left-hand drives, and I have to pay a lot of money to register it in this country.I realize that is a cheap price for such a car but my special situation makes me do things that I wouldn't do in normal circumstances. If you have other questions about the car not hesitate to contact me.

Cheers

This is interesting, here's one i enquired about at the weekend -

Hello,

I am glad to hear that you are interested to buy my 2008 AUDI A6 LE MANS TDI ! Although I am registered in the UK,i recently moved to Huelva, Spain (where my family is from) and the car is being shipped from here. I want to sell it in UK due to the fact that it's an UK version (right handed),it meets all UK standards.I bought this car from UK and It still has UK registration, so you won't have to pay any import and insurance fees. The car meets all United Kingdom guidelines so there will be no problem regarding UK Customs policy on receiving the car.The car is in perfect condition, the bodywork is immaculate,no scratches, dents or hidden defects as well as the interior in excellent non-smoking condition , never been implied in any accident and it is as advertised .The car comes with log book, HPI cleared, No finance. You will get from me the keys and all documents to register the car in you name.If the car is not how i described it, i will offer a full refund. It will be insured during transportation and will be delivered at your address in maximum 10 days. Final price is GBP 8,000 (the price includes shipping and insurance fees). The price is low because the car is right hand drive in a country where all cars are left hand drive so in the Spain is very difficult to drive this type of vehicle and nobody wants to buy it here in Spain.Instead of keeping it in garage (during this economical crisis), I decided to sell it to someone back in the UK for a really attractive price.

I want to take this opportunity to assure you that this deal is 100% legitimate, the financial part of this deal will be manage by a third party and in this way both buyer and seller are 100% covered during the steps of this transaction.

Let me know if you need any further details or if you would like to buy my car.

Thank you!

I decided to see what the deal was with the shipping scam so e-mailed him back and got this...

Hi again,

The car is currently in Italy.I would like to use a shipping company for this deal, the process is very easy and I have just bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee and this is why I know how it works. This company will handle the delivery of the car and also they will handle all the registration papers. If we will use it you will have 5 days to inspect the car before you decide to buy it.The delivery time will be around 3-4 days and the car will be delivered at your home address. In this time you will receive the tracking number of the transaction so you can use it to check the status on the company website.

Let me explain you the whole process:

First I will need your details, full name and address. As soon as I get the info from you I will take the car and go to the shipping company to transfer it in their custody. I will pay all the shipping charges and insurances. After the car is in their custody they will send you a confirmation. They work like a CASH ON DELIVERY company and you will not give them any money first (they want only a proof from you that you have the cash available and you have a valid address before they will start the delivery), they will get the car to your home address and will also give you the documents of registration and the car will be left in your custody, in this period you can inspect the car, take it to a service for inspection and drive test it. After the 5 days period is over the shipping company will come to you and if you decided to keep the car you will transfer the documents on your name and after the car is registered on your name they will release the payment to me. If you decide not to buy the car they will get the car back and you will not pay anything. Please e-mail me with your decision and also your full name and address!!

Thanks

BIGSSS,

What's the e-mail address he used ?. I'm wondering if it's the same guy ?.

I took it a stage further and offer to fly to Italy to visit my family, pick up the car and drive it back.....
