Cupra R or Type R

Hello.

As you may have noticed i have my zed up for sale. Two cars that i am thinking about going for are the seat leon cupra r and the honda civic type r.

Mostly swinging towards the cupra r as i liked it before i got the zed, it has 5 doors, looks really good and i love the sound of a dump valve, which i could install.lol.

On the other hand, the build quality and speed of the nippy on civic type r are intresting, but i dont now if i will like the position of the gear stick.

Anyone got these cars? Fancy a swop.lol?

Whilst I don't have a Cupra, I do have a new Leon and it handles extremely well. I prefer its looks to the breadvan appearance of the Type-R. Turbo engines are also easier to tune and sound better than NA 4 cylinder units.

Shame about the dump valve idea though. :( Is that your main reason for wanting a turbo, because you can fit a dump valve? LOL

i used to have a cupra r as a company car 225bhp not the 215bhp the new cupra has 240bhp and is not as good as the older style as it has a twin spool turbo and does not give you the kick like the older one. the 225 i had was great i could fit 5 peaple in. it had plenty of tourqe and god did it go some but was also good round town too. and was very economical. the honda you have to rev some what to get it to go because of the v-tec enginen.( go for the cupra much better) and at the end of the day its a vw. so you have the build quality and the reliabilty.

Main reason for a turbo is not just for a dump valve.lol. Its the power and kick it provides, puts a good smile on my face. I have the twin turbo now and dont have BOV's on it so im sure that shows it wouldnt be my only reason.

As i said quite like the shape n look of the cupra r and also practical with 5 doors.

Having one of those as a company car must have been alot of fun.lol

it was a lot of fun. dont know which one you are goung for but i think you should go for the 225 bhp and get one with full service history to. the reasen i had one was because i worked for seat, selling them. was a good job.

why sell the zed?

maybe he banged his head and is not thinking straight:rofl:

Why sell the Z?

blimmin good question!

My friend has a silver civic type R with black 17" momo`s, carbon fibre bonnet, spoon spoiler, anodised red race tow eyes, K-pro ( to adjust all sorts of things such as when the V-tec comes on etc), magnex back box spoon filter, tinted windows and xenons.

And yea, the car looks and sounds and goes amazing, but on the local commercial shopping complex`s late at night it gets no-where near as much attention as my car; one of those 16 year old Japanese cult supercars`, a 300ZX twin turbo not many have heard of them, and what fascinates people the most I find is either peoples reaction when the roof is missing or when they figure out its actually a J reg car...

Just something to bear in mind before making a hastey decision which heaven forbid you may regret.

Also my friend does get a lot of stick with his Civic; its nicknamed the "Gucci Handbag"

Dont want to put you off bud afterall Civic type-R`s are extremely good cars but just my opinion...:)

Cupra R is far better! Civic Type R are for idiot boy racers every1 will think your a 22yr old chav (if you are i feel sorry for you :P)

Cupra R = Major Kudos!!

I would have a more constructive answer if the question was reversed. Therefore I have no idea what you should do.......................

Maybe keep the 300ZX ??? :D

Reasons i have put the zed up for sale are that i would really likea more practical car with 5 doors, so think the cupra r may be my best bet. Also wouldnt mind something more modern, none of the little niggly squeeks and things like that. Plus the girlfriend absolutly hatessssssssss the car.lol. But its upto me and i would liek some more practical the now and then come back to a zed in the future i think.

Think its going to be the cupra r if i sell mines

Anyone intrested in buying it?

I am 20years old and i am not a chav.lol.:nono:

if you want something more moden etc.. get a 99spec zed :D

Craig,

Think you already know the best choice for "Putting that Smile on Your Face"

I have owned a Cupra and a Cupra R, I considered a Civic Type R, however value for money and Modability its the Cupra R everytime.

Points to note, try and get a Cupra R with the Genuine Recarro seats in, the ones with only a R stitched in them are not genuine Recarros. They were a £1000 optional extra and the only other optional extra was the Sat/Nav.

Engines are almost bullet proof and you can have them rechipped and remapped and still keep the car in warranty so long as Seat do the work.

IMHO the downside will be replacing the front tyres, Pirelli PZeros are standard.

I'm sure you have researched both cars and I understand the reasons for wanting to move on from the Zed, I myself am considering changing mine for a 7 Series.

If you want to see any pics let me know, good luck bud

sorry i have to disagree with you monster21 all cupra r's came with the letter r stitched inti the seat and you cannot get recarros for the cupra r as standard you can only get them after market. if you look at every r you find 99.9% of them will have the r logo on the seat. only 1 or 2 peaple had recarro,s put in them but to be honest there is not much diffrence between the two. you could also get a sunroof as an opption.
