Ahh, this takes me back. Since the 'any truth in this' thread was deleted presumably cos it was politically incorrect(despite the fact it opened up a debate and would have been accepted as shite) can we now delete any thread that contains the word 'jap'. As someone who actually embraces political correctness,I'll go out of my way not to offend anyone,also worked with a lot of Japanese people. Generally they don't like the 'j word'.

So make it easy ban/delete 'Jap' posts, stick to J-Spec for descriptions of Japanese origin cars and Japanese for everything else. Easy, 2 extra letters to type for a car, 5 extra letters for everything else including the person, job done.

First person to reply with 'I don't find Brit' offensive ....blah..blah..

There's a lot of Jap threads by the way.

However I deal with the flip side of what passages of text like this casue, the abuse, violence, mistrust and hurt that is caused because sadly some people read and believe these type of things. I apologise if you feel that I have in some way infringed on your right to free speech or not taken it light heartedly enough. I deal with results of this type of propaganda and the people who have been attacked becasue they "look like" the people described in the text. That is fueled by the type of nonsense that was in that thread which is why I asked for it to be removed.

I'm sorry you feel that way mate. I think there is a difference between free speech and racist propaganda. If you beleive that it is appropriate for racist propaganda to be posted on this site then I'm really at a loss as to what to suggest and think the best thing I can do is move along to a different site. As a committee member perhaps you can post up some official guidance as to the acceptable level of racist propaganda allowed in a thread.

 

I respect your right to read what you want but I think that some consideration should be levied towards how upsetting it could be for some one else to read what you are happy to read. I believe this is called common courtesy.

I completely agree that God doesn't need to be kept out, I believe that God and true science fit together with each other perfectly. However, I also believe that people look to science as a means of negating the need for God (quite possibly subconsciously), because they don't like the idea of someone telling them how they should live their lives.

Yes , it `s true that nobody can prove that anything doesn`t exist : it`s impossible . Science , however , is a rigorous and painstaking discipline . All theories have to stand up to the highest levels of scrutiny before being accepted by the scientific community .

For some reason , believers in god(s) seem to absolve themselves from any obligation to provide a glimmer of proof . It`s "faith " , therefore we don`t need any proof !

As for " Atheism " , I`m with Doctor Jonathan Miller on this . Why have a word at all for not believing in god ? Lots of people don`t believe in fairies , but they`re not lumped together under a collective noun .
