That is just ridiculous!

Why on earth americans feel the need to still put engines that size in cars is simply beyond me!

Hear them on full chat and you'll understand why! :)

I'm sorry but it just aint convincing me!

The noise it makes is not enough to change my mind!

Why is it the Japs can get like 400bhp out of a 2 Litre and the americans still feel the need to put ridiculously big engines in cars!!!

i was looking at that site as i stopped to look at this today and wondered what the price was. Its £42000 :(

I'd rather have 6 or 8 cylinders over something with 4 cylinders that makes the same power. 4 cylinder engines do not sound good. For me, it has to be the complete package, looks, noise and performance.

I saw that on Top Gear - what a piss poor excuse for a car!!!

HOWEVER it looks the nutz! :D

isnt the srt-10 engine like 500hp without turbos??? so if they have 2 massive ones on there looking at some reeeediculous hp

That was'nt really my point Si, so i apologise if thats what it sounded like.

My point is, what is the need for stupidly big engines in this day and age.

Fair eough you want more pots, well take the mitsi fto, 2ltr with 6 cylinders, i've got one and it sounds superb! Fair enough 6 pots but without the stupidly large engine - job done!

I am simply saying that it is totally unnecessary for engines to be so big.

I won't try and argue any further mate - i've said my peice and i have certainly listened to your side, but i just dont agree with it thats all :)

Do'h spelling lol

Different market needs. America is full of big long and wide open roads, where the cars/trucks can cruise around at near idle all day long, you cant do that in a little 4-pot screaming its nuts off.

You might me able to achieve the same peak power output out of a smaller engine, but the way it delivers its power is not comparable. A 4.0 V8 making 300hp has bundles of torque and power from idle and will pull like a steam train. A 2.0 making 300hp has bugger all power across most of its rev range, pathetic torque and all its power in a small range at top the of the revs. Turbo technology helps but there really is no replacement for displacement.

The Bigger the engine the more suited it is for heavier vehicles for long distances.

Not to mention fuel costs are so comparatively low.

That explains the engines anyway...Its just a pity the majority of american cars are complete shite.

American cars only work in america, the rest of the world has no need or want for them.

A quick question - is that thing RWD???

I remember Jezza reviewing the F150 i think and i distinctly remember him saying it was ridiculous to put that much HP to the rear wheels - where there is no weight LOL :wack:

So if that thing has got that HP whats the point if it can't even put it down?

I'll be quiet now  I think i have a distaste for american cars - love the look hate just about everything else, as its awful! lol

Yep rwd.....watch the vids !! :D

I did - all i saw was wheel spin

8OObhp is about right, give or take a few geegees !

Next time you are up here, North of the Wall Zx-eyes, gie`s a shout and I will take you for a spin in my daily driver !

Had 3 Zeds and almost 20 yanks. Love both, for different reasons.

Downsized this year to one car, as always had 2, a daily and a weekend toy.

Getting older, finances, kids away, etc, you get the idea.

This was my choice for a D/D and I love it !!

Have a try mate, you might be converted ?
