Now that I'm working @ superchips, I informed them of the situation with the z32TT ECU and how it causes the car to run too lean. They were going to fix the problem, but decided to discontinue all asian cars altogether. The guy who originally did the tuning for the Z was on his way out of the company and did not tune it properly.

We have a new engineer from TRD, but he is strictly working on the trucks right now. We may venture into the import market again soon, but we are selling way to much stuff to Vortec, Procharger, and Powerdyne for Fords, and GM's with forced induction. After the Dodge v8 tuner comes out in December there may be more for asian turbo imports....

So as of 2 days ago...Superchips no longer offers an upgrade for the 300zxTT or SupraTT.

The ONLY thing SuperChips does >>is remove the speed limiter. That's it. No fuel remapping, nothing.

It's a waste of cash. The most widely used chip in 300ZX's is Jim Wolf Technology. More expensive, but it actually does something.

Good luck. Use search and you can read about this debate to your heart's content.

...and this FAQ from tt.net:

EPROM

Acronym : EPROM = Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory Also known as a "chip".

Location : Inside the ECU which is under the passenger's foot well, under the wooden board.

Function : The EPROM is an electronic component where the software running the ECU, and the data about the car (i.e. maps) are (semi) permanently stored. Most of the modification that can be done to a Z are through some optimization of this code, and the modification of the data.

The EPROM is kind of a "silicon floppy disk"

Notes : The EPROM is a 28 pin "chip" that has the software code to run/manage the engine stored on it. When you upgrade your "chip", you are actually buying a new/modified EPROM with different "software" on it.

In the case of Jim Wolf Technology (JWT) the code has been SUBSTANTIALLY changed. In the case of SuperChips, only ONE byte on the entire EPROM is different (removal of the speed limiter).

The general consensus is that they are not very good(read - crap).

There are far better options to go for.

my car came with a not so super superchip, and was pushing 326bhp on the rolers, thats with blitz induction, boost valves and de-catted.

Get another brand

thanks for the information!

i was a bit dubious about the tech spec and quality of superchips before, but this has confirmed it, ill check out some other brands!! cheers!!!
