Im due to have my turbo's serviced in september at Silvia eng, also having them slightly breathed on :-). Can anyone tell me what other things would be good to change/service whilst the engines out. Already planning on having the water pump, and fan belts changed, cam belt recently done.

Thanks for any advice.

There are several things you could consider while the engine is out, some serviceable items and others hp modifications, all depending on how much money you want to spend.

1. Port and polish heads / re-seat valves;

match lower intake manifold with heads.

2. Have the EGR system removed which stops

exhaust gases from being recirculated

back into the intake plenum.

3. Highly recomended to change the

detonation sensor. Don't be told that

this does nothing!! If this gives a

safety boost error code then it's a real

PIA to sort out.

Other than the above, most other things can be dealt with when the engine is in the car.

In addition to Steves thoughts it's a good time to do the timing belt while the engine's out. Also replace the little water hoses and other vaccuum tubes that look like they might give trouble.

Just to add a few things.

Check the Clutch system and plate.

Maybe get the Flywheel Resurfaced.

Check the Cam Seals (front and rear and Replace if needed)

Replace the PCV valves, it is much easier with the engine out.

Replace any Vacuum tubing going to or from the turbos, Silvia might already do this but if they dont it is worth the Xtra.

As Steve Said inspect and Replace the Det sensor you dont wanna pull the engine just to replace this.

Wiring Harness - maybe....

Gut Pre Cats if you have them.

All depends on how much money you have laying around at the time really. But i think just about everything has now been covered from a maitenance standpoint, Apart from the Turbos and the knock sensor just about everything else can be gotten too with the engine in (but gearbox out in some cases, and since silvia take the Gearbox out anyway it ..) you can leave the rest if you like, you will save money on labour that is all.

Hope that helps
