Having to rebuild me sisters Golf 1.4 at mo, bit different than doing the z.

It is a 1998 with 52000 on clock and has had 2 broken pistons - unbelievable or what!

Got most of the bits but still need to get the torque settings for most of the engine (main bearings, big ends, sump etc.). Anyone know where I can find them. Must be somewhere on the web.

not heard from u yet so heres the info i was gonna give you:

according to Autodata there is no figure for the mains bolts & this warning:

Caution:

Measurement of bearing clearance is not possible by normal methods & should not be attempted, as this will result in damage to the block & crank.

If the bearing bolts have been loosened, the entire cyl block & crank must be replaced.

the rest of the figures are different too:

Head bolts: (new) 30Nm +90deg +90deg

Big ends: 30Nm +90deg

Flywheel: 60Nm +90deg

Sump: 15Nm

clutch: 20Nm

phone me Mon morning when im back at work if you need any more info
