As you know i've bought a 4x4 and it was imported from Japan late last year. There isn't a bit of rust on it which is great and i'd like to keep it that way. Do people generally put a coat of that tar stuff on them? Or is it a personal preference??

The car is made with zink coated steel so won't rust but not sure about the chassis.

My zed has only been in this country 3 years and in the summer i will be getting it up on the ramps and blasting any shit on it off and then coating the whole underbody and arches with underbody sealant (tar stuff) :D

Not a single bit of rust on my motor and there wont be either :D

^^as above have been pressure washing mine from time to time to get the road salt off and will be applying waxoyl in the summer:D

it's very clean under mine so gonna keep it that way, as it's been in the uk for 5 yrs now

cool ok, well this car is due to attack the muddy UK countryside so i think waxoil or similar will be a good idea!!

Waxoyl is good stuff, but it's best done in the summer.

Clean the underbody off using a pressure washer, then leave it overnight to dry out properly, before liberally applying the waxoyl.

The reason for this is that any trapped water will never get out and can have worse effects than if it wasn't waxoyl'ed.

I used to import Pajero.

Been on the club for years.

Most folks blast the underneath witha pressure washer, allow to dry, then coat with waxoil.

Needs applied every 2 years.

Agree totally. To add, it would be far better off being done in the summer too. :)

Don't forget to do the inside of the seals and the rear arches, the seals you can do via the screw holes that hold the kick plates on with an attachment from waxoil, the rear arches you will need to take the boot plastic away and get the waxoil behind them. I had a breaker which had a lot of corrosion in this area.
