Who give's a Monkey's what is said on other forums???

I hate evos and scubys, some don't - it's called a personal opinion.

I don't really give a monkeys what they think on the evo forum. They're standard saloon shitboxes with turbos small 4 pot engines, horrible interiors, nothing special whatsoever. Same applies to scubies and i'm sorry to say skylines aren't much better - apart from the r34 and the new gtr.

A zed is a one off machine, everything was designed to go in it from the ground up, it's not a hot hatch and it has a history to it so i'm sorry to say whatever the lads/ladies on evo forums have to say doesn't really carry any weight it's their opinion in the same way my opinion is that evos are horrible boring saloon cars with turbos bolted on

Its like that on every car forum - as usual everyone has an opinion without knowing what they are talking about.

LMAO @ the bloke who said it was heavy and a pig to work on so recommended the GTO Instead - a car thats much heavier and even more of a pig to work on ! LOL :headvswal

They dont know what they are talking about..

Idiots

300zx far better looking than the evos well most of them. they look like a fridge on wheels.

Whilst I've never been awestruck with the looks of the Evo, it is an impressive machine. How Mitsubishi can get that amount of power out of a 4 cylinder engine is beyond me. They have a very very good AWD system and handle very well. I find do them ugly (apart from the new Evo10/Lancer), but they are a special car.

Also, the GTR, whilst again, IMO, it doesn't look as good as the Z, you really need to go in one to appreciate them. I did in the US last year and was blown away by it, despite its lacklustre interior and questionable styling.

Yeah what an idiot, they also mentioned the rear wheel steering being crap, but then contradicted them selves by saying buy a gto.... which also has active rear wheel steering which is always enabled even worse.

Coz they bolt massive turbos on them which results in lots of lag....

most of the people i know dont really find the evo that special just another car to them they see them to often samy with a scooby but most of them have probably only seen 1 or 2 other 300s apart from mine and they all love them

I'm not a fan of Evos either but some of what they're saying are right, they are heavy and they are a bottomless pit!

Compared to an evo they are not that far off in wieght difference the soft touring stock Z suspension makes it feel bulky boaty and not as responsive thats why its almost essential to fit aftermarket suspension, the evo is a racing pedagree with alot of race history in its past, the chassis are far superior no doubt. The 300 is a gt it wasnt designed to drive round a track although with a few mods and wieght saving it has potential but its a old car so expect to spend alot on parts that have passed their best to bring it back to life, Evos are 4 wheel drive and alot more forgiving than a rear wheel drive which is what makes the 300 so much fun, kinda like living on the edge you never know when its gunna catch you out. and for being a bottomless pit..... 100% agree the way im going lol actually not lol its quite sad :(:( Anyway everyone has their own opinions so they can think what they like

i pmsl'd at some of those comments - yeah some are right, they're a pig to work on as we all know (mine's gonna be 20 this year, duh!), loved the GTO being better than the Z bit  and Z owners looking like Magnum P.I. (so get a GTO which looks twice as much like a ferrari than a Z!) :smash:

I can't knock the handling of an evo but it's the plainness of the design that I can't stand. The latest one looks like it's had it's rear lights deformed, the only reasonable looking one was the 6 as far as i remember.

The design of the zed was limited just to the zed and no cut down bog standard saloon/coupe with a 1.6 , it's something special. The evo is no more interesting that a focus st or an astra gsi.

Add to that the horrible dull interior design and it leaves me feeling a bit cold tbh.

I found that quite interesting to be honest

These cars are expensive to run and are hard to work on.

But in exchange for your cash you get a fun car/project/interest that looks the part and goes like stink.

Ive had a scoob and really dont like them anymore, they're dull and too common to be appreciated.

The evo however i do like, but as said above, after the evo 6 they too became dull and common. Dont get me wrong they are fast and great handling machines but in my opinion 'trivial'.

The skyline however i do love, the R32 GTR for me is the best car on the road, abosloutely stunning!

P.s, How does the skyline/300zx compare, performance wise?

Can o worms here but I agree with a lot of what they have said on there. Not ALL of it, but most of it is spot on.

apparently a ******* to work on with many jobs requiring the engine to come out

True

they are slow , and heavy but worse of all a bottomless pit mate !! They are getting over 15 years old now and lots will need replacing

True, under 100mhp the 300zx is nothing special any more, most hot hatches will keep up or beat it now.

There ok, just ok, had one a few yrs ago.

Worse thing is the + - 1.5degree rear wheel steering on them.

Just feels weird around corners, especially when setting up for a fast one.

True

300zx, nice car if your spending £2-3K and you don't mind leaving at the road side when it breaks down.

Have to kinda agree

Lots of BS I dont agree with at all on there though. But what do you expect from a bunch of shopping trolly drivers with a turbo bolted onto their cars :smash:

That guy does know what he's talking about, buy a GTO!!!!!! i've had one the crapest thing i ever had problems with gearboxes and ecu's. Did not know this at the time sold on ebay for £400 after auto gearbox blow up!!!!!!Much happer with my Z and would not change!!!!.

I may be mistaken, but I always thought the GTO/3KGT was exactly the same as the 300ZX with the same chassis & engine except for the four wheel drive and the engine being fitted 90 degrees the other way...???

no. its a totally different car, but the US version of it is the DODGE STEALTH.

Disagree. What hothatches will do 0-60 in 5.5 secs, 0-100 in less than 14 secs ? In fact very few cars sports or high performance cars will do that.

and the zed is no heavier than other cars in its class - Skyline, Supra ..etc and other highly regarded sports cars - Porsche 911, Bmw M3 ...etc

People also exaggerate how hard they are to work on, and there is only 1 reason to remove the engine that differs from others and thats turbo replacement.

and as for being a bottomless money pit....may be the case for many owners, there are a lot of rough abused examples out there that have not been properly maintained, but thats no different if you buy an uncared for example or get unlucky with any car. Mine cost less on maintenance and more reliable than any of my much newer cars.

No, completley different cars by different manufactures with no shared parts. The GTO is bigger and heavier and has a straight 6 engine.

 that's even funnier!

GTO has V6 engine.

Doh...:headvswal :slap: dunno what I was thinking then. yes, a Transverse mounted V6

Edited by Yowser

GTO has V6 engine.

yes, plus would add, its takes longer to change one of the rear plugs than it does to change the whole 6 in a zed.

I found everything about the GTO to be a right PITA to work on. Taking apart the interior was a right nightmare.
