Hi everyone. the zed has developed a problem:confused:a few days ago the exhaust temp light kept coming on then went away- now its back with a vengence the light comes on for a couple of minutes and the car is now running rough with a realy rough idle and a bad smell of burning when car is parked.Its a 90 j spec twin turbo auto,it says something about the exh temp on the sunvisor i just wish i understood japanesse:rant:

Exhaust temp light comes on when the unburnt fuel is being ignited in the Cats. Unburnt fuel is getting into the cats because one or more cylinders are not sparking and igniting the fuel...aka..missfire.

 

Most likely reason is corroded coilpack connectors, failing PTU or brittle wiring loom.

You missed one David, how about a split rubber around the spark plug? Happened to mine, so got a new coil-pack and that sorted it :cool:

while you're at it, it's a good idea to clean up every connector you can get to ;)
