sorry to be still bleating on about shock absorbers but i'm afraid i will not rest till ive got to the bottom of it.

as u are probably aware im after some nissan shox for a jap 300 1992

i speak to nissan, who take my vin details and ring me back with prices of 70 odd quid each plus vat for rear shocks, 80 quid odd for a front left and 90 quid for a front right.

fcuk i think to that and phone jefftt who reckons they should be around 40 quid each plus vat at any nelsons and gives me the part number.

i return to nissan with jefftt's part number, they get flustered and say dont u fukin belive us blah blah blah and get quite snotty, i say i dont give a fcuk what u think i should have on my car, just tell me what jeffs part number is then if its not for my car.

he goes off, and low and behold it comes up on the screen (he invites me round to the pc to make sure he wasnt ripping me off) as a shock absorber... but doesnt say whick model its for... and .... is priced at £91 each.

he then phones nissan who say the part number that jeff has given me is for a uk spec car.

but according to my nissan fast cd the number for a british shock is different again, so i now have 3 different part numbers all for shocks at different prices

what the french connection uk is going on... i give up!!!!

jeff, i dont doubt you for a minute matey and if you nelson flogs them to you for 40 quid and is certain they are for jap spec truks then i shall be ringing u shortly.

sorry to rattle on but why the fvck is nothing straight forward. and i though ford parts department were shite but this takes the piss. whinge over... more beer..mmm slooobbbeeerrrr

I have heard that Nissan are bugers for making all different parts for different countries etc. etc. They don't make it easy for the Owner, that's for sure.

Scoops,

I know exacty what you mean mate.

All the parts for my car are either from the blokes on this forum (thanks all), or from Courtesy Nissan in Texas, Courtesy are cheeper, more efficiant & most importantly know exactly what you want.

See who's got a purchase at this time with them & add your order, so much simpler bud.

How can you tell that you need new shocks? Not thinking going after market ones?

Scoops mate, seems to me the Nissan dealer you visted are having you on.

Part No 56210-33P25 is definately for Jap spec (non adjustable) rear shocks, having purchased many of them and the list price is £34:90 + vat each.

One thing that springs to mind is that your dealer is malipulating the figures or has got the wrong part...Mmm well how about a group buy from my dealer...anyone???

Ps if you have a loose rear end (the car that is)over broken road surface or a general skipping at the rear, it means new shocks, if any one is interested will post a full and quick way (1 hour) how to change them.

On Monday I ordered 2 rear shocks(Jap Spec) from local Nissan Dealer in Falkirk using Part No 56210-33P25 and was quoted £34:90 + vat each. No problem at all, in fact the guy new straight off what the part no. was. He said he had sold quite a few.

cheers guys, will try a different mandellas tomorrow, the one i went to is just round the corner from work nr the trafford centre called priory nissan.

Will try the one in chester tomorrow, which is nearer to home.

mac - mate i cant afford to uprate at the mo and i need shocks badly, cant complain at 40quid for stock ones. ive just got a new job in mancland and its killing me in juice (im on the hunt for a 1.2 nova to screw up the motorway indstead)

srrae - i need shocks badly, it skips around over bumps on the road, its getting really bad, its not the hicas bushes cos ive had them done, my truck has done about 62K and is still probably on its original nissan shocks, with lowered springs aswell this will kill them even quicker.

Scoops,

Try the nissan dealer in Widnes, they've sorted me out with loads of kit and are very very good!

Tell them Ben recommended them, and you might even get a discount!

G'luck.
