Are these injectors any good? Someone has a set of 850cc for sale. How are they compared to nismo? Will I still need to get a new 300 degree fuel rail as the mine is a 1991?

Thanks

yes, if you haven't had any modifications to the engine from the standard injectors

will be a different pintle shape

I will have some engine and turbo mods done thats why I was looking at these.

Are you saying I need to get a 300 degree fuel rail?

I can't seem to find the link i want, it involves machining out so that the newer style can be accepted. The easiest way would be the 300 degree rail.

Thanks Stenorth for your help. I've just seen that smithy sells them so I'm guessing they are a good make.

No worries, Oh yeh PE aren't bad from what i read, depends on the combo of turbos your going for - might even work out cheaper buying the lot as a combo.

I do know injectors of any make, have tolerances in how much fuel they actually push out, that's why its a good idea to flow check them and match them accordingly

Already got the turbos. Bought Garrett GT28R's off stevemochan few months back and will be getting forged pistons and con rods soon. so just looking at injectors now.

that will be a nice little setup! the turbos are big enough to warrant the bigger injectors then lol.

I'm still a little fresh with compressor maps but they dont look too laggy! and they seem to have put out some decent numbers in the states!

Good luck mate!

power enterprise are a very good injector , possibly with 850 on your set up ( unless you are going for crazy boost ) may be a bit of an overkill and difficult to set up for normal running without causing over fueling and bore wash.

nice zed

If you can afford it, buy some MikeSmith manifolds to go with your setup, they'll make a big difference.

Jaffa would the Z! 3" downpipes make much of a difference to Ant's set up as ive been told they can make an extra 30 - 60 hp ....if so Ant, they may be worth considering if youre getting the bits and pieces as you go along

downpipes do make a big difference, especially the 3" expansion ones from SpecialtyZ (Z1 sell them too). They make a huge difference to both spool up and overall power.

Ant allready has the downpipes.

They are custom made by Leon at Alunox and a great peice of kit.

I included them with the turbos:)

As for the injectors PE are top draw gear.

I am using PE Kevlar timing belt,PE magnetic oil filter and 2xPE air filters on my build:hyper:

was thinking of getting them for my set up while its being built but they run about 500 dollars plus shipping and duty . could probably get them made custom to suit in the Uk for similar money ....saying that ..not much money for another 60hp and increased drivabilitity ..cheers for the info Steve..sorry for hijacking the thread by the way

any link to where you are getting the PE filters from Steve ..UK based ?? ..good grief hijacking thread again ...head down beware of hung over moderators

Was searching around a bit and come across this.

Has anyone used them before? are they any good? it seems that you can go for the bigger injectors without changing fuel rails etc, or am I missing something.

What do you think?

Hi mate

I have rfead good things about the Detch... injectors but no personal experience. Seems like a pretty staright forward kit. Shame to chop the loom up though I think I'd pay extra and buy a later loom.

Nismo 555 injectors will go straight in with no mods on a 91 model, only a chip is required and good for around 500 odd BHP at the wheels.

Nismo 740's or PE 850's will require some machine work OR the 300 degree fuel rail, this rail was designed to allow a wider range of injectors to fit early model Zeds but also to help combat the slight fuel starvation problem to No'6 cylinder, this is only really noticed when chasing the high bhp. So in short fitting the new rail kit has a very good advantage other than just allowing injectors to be fitted.

Only downside with the 850's is am not aware of anyone who does a chip to run them. JD might be able to play with a 740cc chip to help you get things running, but unless he does a custom MAP or you run aftermarket engine management, then you may be stuck.

Simply decide on a final goal power wise and that will help you decide on what parts to use. :)

Just a brief UPDATE on what Smithy stated in the post above this one.

Effective November 1st 2008, NISMO changed the style of the 555cc injectors to be the same as their 740cc and 850cc injectors. This means that if you want to fit any of their injectors into an older style lower intake (ie, '94).

Looks like I'll won't go for the PE 850cc injectors if it looks as they could be a problem to map. I think from what I've read they could be a over kill anyway.

I will have to save my pennies and get the 555 or 740 with the fuel rail.

From what setup I'm looing to run, Wiseco forged pistons, Eagle con rods and Garrett GT28R turbos. Would the 555cc be ok or should I go for the 740cc? I think I read that the 555cc would be ok, but can't remember where I read it.

Thanks for your help.

If it was me mate, i'd go the Nismo 740's, plenty of room there for yer should you chase a bit more power, whilst at the same time not a big overkill for the rest of your spec. They tend to be a fraction cheaper than the 555's too :)

Danny is the only person i know who does an "off the shelf" chip for 740's too, this will more than do you till one day you want the harry ramsden of chips to map your car for, Mr John Dixon ;)

smithy

Have to agree with smithy (although I hate it :D), smaller injectors may suit your goals better, also watch out for used injectors from the states. The zed has live feeds to the injectors even with the ignition off and with the increase of the bioethanol in their pump gas it rots the injector internals!
