Hi,

Just wondered what sort of quality you guys get from films and other things you've downloaded?

Also can you connect your pc to a surround sound system and get dobly surround sound from downloaded films?

Cheers

Vijay

Hi, it very much depends on the format and size of file that you download, 700Mb or thereabouts for as film is ok but a 4Gb file will look a lot better.

I can't stand pixellation in films and videos, so I always download the best quality files that I can find. If they're not available as a good quality download - I wait until the good ones come out.

That makes sense.

What about sound, are they in dolby?

700mb is what most DVD rips will be, and quality is spot on imo. I connect my laptop up to my TV and watch films in the big screen, but I lose a little quality as my TV is not LCD or HD and I only use a s-video connection.

They can be in Dolby surround, 2.0, 5.1, AC3, with or without subtitles. You just have to look for the format that suits you. I take it that you are using torrents?

Yeah think an odd torrent here and there ;)

just download the whole dvd then keep it in your collection, or get a dvd rental and use anydvd to copy the disc to your harddrive then use powerdvd to play it on your tv ;)

you can also get the bluray h or x 264 rip...but these can be anything from 4 gig to 20 gig depending whether 720p or 1080p quality is amzing though....got myself a western digital media player which plays anything......divx,vob,iso's,mkv.....great piece of kit....just plug in a harddrive with your films on,connect to tv via hdmi and your away....
