Not been around these parts in such a long time that I had to re-register.

Chunk still on here? Got some bits off him years ago. Advice too.

Just bought a Z today.J reg, turbo, import.

Can I run these problems past you guys?

Car has poor power.

Feels about half the power it should have.My first thoughts are related to plugs and coil packs. How do you test coil packs?

Idles rough as well, constant revs, about 900rpm, but not smooth.

Seems to put out more fumes from right exhaust than the left.

Twitchy rear. Go over a bump and the rear kicks out to the left a bit. Not good.

I know these are vague symptoms, but any advice greatly appreciated.

What's available in diagnostic machines/programs. I have a spare laptop.

Thanks in advance.

chunk is gone....well banned actually

power down sounds like you're in safety boost....do a search for self diagnostic

could just be in need of a good old service though...try drying out the MAF that might help

if its stepping out on you...what rims / tyre size you running on bud?

There is someone in glasgow with the proper software to check your car out, hope you get it fixed because even standard power is exciting in one of these things, gave my dad a go of mine, he put half throttle on, and started fishtailing :slap:

He had a big grin after getting out :D

Uno - thanks for advice, will get searching.

Needs at least a service.

Chunk banned. Oh well.

On MOM 17" rims with no-name tyres.

Doesn't feel like a tyre or wheel problem though - more like the spring and shockers aren't bolted in properly.

Ruishy1 - thanks for advice, you got the name and number of the Glasgow guy? I know about the power. Had 2 turbo, two na in the past.

StellaZ - thanks for advice, will have a look.

deffo sounds like ya balljoints mate, done mine not long ago and made a helluva difference, i also junked the hicas whilst i was at it, much easier to replace the inner balljoints that way and its less to wrong in the long run

I dont have his name mate, but its in one of the stick threads at the top of either 300zx help and advice, or zed related chat, conzult or datascan i think :)

You prolly also got a duff rear shocker maybe on RHS making the rebound kick the car to the left

Thanks for the advice folks.

Will get a look at the back end when time allows.

Checked coilpacks as first port of call re the power - one was disconnected.
