heater in car has stopped working and the fan is making a strange noise, its still blowing, just cold air instead of warm, engine temp is fine, noticed the other day it just went from cold to hot within a minute after being cold for ages, it didnt just gradually warm up if ya know what i mean

any ideas before i go poking around

Check the water level in your rad, if a little low the heater matrix is the first to stop working, if the level is ok check for air locks, run the engine with rad cap off and heater on temp 40deg and add water as required.

Check for circulation by getting you hand down the rear of the engine and feel the heater matrix pipes to be sure both are hot. If still not working then you may have to try flushing the matrix by disconecting both matrix pipes and flushing through in both diections with a hose pipe.
