My car is having missfiring issues which some of you would have read about recently and ive narrowed it down to cylinder number one not firing.

(Running on 5 cylinders)

Note:The connector on number one is the only broken connector. (still seats ok)

All injectors are clicking

All coilpacks are working

All Coilpack connectors are working

So i fiqured that it must be the spark plug, so i removed the plug and its covered in black powder (Overfueling) which says again that its not sparking

But its only just dawned on me...

Its dry... Does that matter?

EDIT- CAR NO LONGER STARTS!

Ive installed a new spark plug in cylinder one (same type) and it made no difference to the car running when i connected it up, i turned it off and then on again and it will no longer start.

It has a new battery and the fuel pump is priming

It is turning over but will not fire (no fuel)

All injectors are clicking

Ive cleaned the PTU connections (series 1)

Ive cleaned the CAS connection

There is a lot of black fuel marks on the road behind the car (possibly from 5 cylinder problem)

Ive removed the new plug and it is dry

What connector is broken??? Have you replaced it cos until you do it will missfire.

Have you tested the injector signal with a noid light???

You state "All the injectors are working" How do you know that??? Have you bench tested them on a flow tester???

no & no

But i do know that im getting a clicking from all the injectors and if i connect a coil pack to the connector and working sparkplug ontop of the engine im still getting a spark.

by broken i mean that the connector still seats correctly but is missing a bit of plastic.

To be honest running on 5 cylinders is a new thing, its had a missfire for a week or two now so it could yet be a seperate issue

Ok so you have a spark. thats good

But you need two more things to make a cylinder fire.

Petrol and compression.

You need to test for a correct injector electical signal. Noid light is a simple way for simple folks like me who dont have a Conzult and who couldnt operate it if I had one:cry:

The fact that an injector "clicks" doesnt mean that its working properly. As I found out recently on a VG engine;)

And what about "compression"??? Have you got enough compression for the thing to run cleanly. Have you done a compression test????

IMHO (and its very humble) you need to check out these basics before running off buying bits like plugs that you may not really need

OK, ive installed a new plug and the car was still running on 5 cylinders, I turned it off and now it wont start at all, its turning over but no firing.

I can hear the fuel pump working

Anybody help?

if ya lived closer we could do it here ah well.

And yes my tester is fine thanks.

I was getting a miss on no.6, think it turned out to be a sticky ring or trapped lifter, i sh1t my pants for a while.

I have a compression tester too m8, i dare not test mine though, after spending 14k on this engine which is now out of warranty, if compression was gone i would scrap the car and never buy one again.

My idle problem is the same as yours, its not missing on high rpms though, cust im only getting 0.3 bar of boost, grrr.

My plan is to go through this guide step by step:

http://www2.zhome.com:81/ZCMnL/PICS/hesitation/hesitation.html

You seen that guide before pete? Some extra bit in there ive not seen before.

Although, the fact yours wont even start now is baffling, do you have another car to jump it with should your batt go flat? If not you have a limited amount of engine turns.

If you get totally stuck i can come over with my compression tester and a set of jump leads and you can pop one of my coils in yours, do some elimination.

right, im baffled, ive removed the Ptu and cleaned up the connections and got no change,

Ive removed the spark plug that ive jus put in and its bone dry so it looks like no fuel is getting through.

Im waiting on my lady to come home from the shops so i can buy a tester.

But my main question now is, how on earth do i remove the metal pin rom the CAS connection without dropping it?

EDIT-Spoke too soon, i dropped it

Ok, this is going to sound odd,

All injectors are working and putting fuel in the cylinders

I now have no spark!

There may have some confussion in my own head as to what works when but it now looks like the ptu?
