Guess who has broken down again miles away from home.

This time i was going around a corner and the car started by all means bunny hopping before completely losing all power and dying. I tried starting the car and it refused. So i went and played with a few connectors and it started again and i drove it to my friends house.

Came back out later and it fires up fine then just completely dies. Then i cant get it started at all. In the end i left the car at my friends house and i got a lift home..

I am nearing the end of this car more and more.. Old zed has very kindly offered to come around tomorrow and try another CAS on my car to see if its that playing up.

I can only really put it down to two major things.. ECU or CAS.

Fuel pump is working fine, spark plugs are fine, coil packs are fine, no codes from ECU.

Any other ideas on what it could be?

Also does anyone have a manual ECU im putting the car back to standard i dont care if i only have 7psi at the tubs.

Definatly sounds fuel related. I take it you can hear the pump prime when you turn the ignition on ?

Mark the cas with something like a marker pen or tipex before you remove it, so you know eactly where to put the new one back on....you can test if before you get the new one by unbolting it and pulling it out then with it still plugged in spin the end of the cas to see if you can hear the injectors clicking.

A failing CAS could also explain your other problem.

Yes i can hear the fuel pump prime, i will mark the cas and everything.

I just don't understand why after almost 9 months of having the car it starts playing up now. What the hell have i done to deserve it!

Is there anything else that could cause this problem?

the PTU is S2.

injector connectors all clean or green?!

you had the fuel pump pressure tested ?

I will check all the injectors etc, how can i test the fuel pump pressure?

Mine did exactly the same and it was a dirty CAS connector.

Now this is a story to tell, oldzed came around and we took the cas connector and to find that it was a bit grubby so oldzed cleaned it all up and i went to start the car and it fired up after a while, so that thinking it was the problem solved old zed followed me down the road to find the car completely dieing agian. So we looked at the connections and i plugged my s1 PTU back in and it fired up.. So now we are looking completely confused as to the fact that the a series 1 worked fine and a series 2 was messing up..

So oldzed took off all the connections and found out that there was some corrosion inside the harness connections... So oldzed took them all off and cleaned them up and he then followed me home. The car is running perfect only problem now is idle, which im sure it is ecu related so im going to get a new ecu!

Thank you so much oldzed!!! Owe you a few :duffer:

So you see you don't beat the old dog just because it refused to play, you're better off finding out why she refused to play...

Its just annoying because in terms of why it broke down was my fault because i didnt check the connections for corrosion, if i would of checked it first im sure the car would have been fine...

A very good example of why in many cases there is not a particular cure for a running issue because there are so many variables and at the same time similarities between faults, symptoms and the fix.

just all part of lifes royal tapestry of zed life:D
